Switching to pc

I'm thinking about switching to pc and slowly saving up money and getting parts and then selling my ps4 with my games to help pay for the extra stuff . (Ps I'm young so getting money isn't the easiest thing to do ) is that a good idea . :/

  • Its only a good idea if you have friends to play with. Don't switch if you're the only one.

  • The short answer is yes. You will be able to do a lot more with a pc. My advice is to start with a video card and build around that. This should take up a little less than half of your budget. So for instance if you have a $500 budget then look at buying a $200-$250 video card then go from there.

  • Don't sell your PS4, use it for fighting games, racing games, and games that aren't ported well to PC. You'll also save money on PC by not having your console library overlap much with your PC.

  • You know you can do both right?

    • PlayStationNow will bring PS4 exclusives to PC, so go for it. The only thing consoles are even for these days is convenience and the less tech savvy.

    • Sell the ps4 after your pc is built and running. I'm starting to build my pc but i have bad spending habits, mostly food on lunches at work. So instead of saving X amount of money for a prebuild pc, I'm buying one part a month (I'm going for a high end pc build). I havent started yet because I'm recovering from buying new tires and past due bills but i can start soon. I prefer to buy the more expensive parts first, so I'm getting my msi geforce gtx 1070 graphics card first which is about $450 on newegg, the the intel i7 processor for about $300, so on so forth. Just make sure the parts you buy are compatible with each other, I'm sure you can find a sub forum on reddit (or make one?) and have people over there help you out.

I don't think you should sell your ps4. Just buy parts at a time when you have the money. Like save up for a pc case first, then start to save up for a power supply and so on. It's just easier to save money that way than trying to save up like $1000 imo.
