DEAR TITANS,
dear titans,
I'm a hunter main, and I'll start by saying that I've pretty much exclusively played as a hunter. my first character was a warlock, but I've had that character for more than a year and I'm still not level 40 so that tells you how much I've played it. I also recently made a new titan but she's still very low level.
today I played on someone else's Titan, level 40, most of the subclasses upgraded, and with some decent gear. I also tried out all 3 subclasses.
In my opinion, titans are easy mode when compared to hunters. now I'm not saying that anyone can play a titan and be good. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE. and I'm not saying anyone who plays a hunter will be good with a titan, because that's also untrue. but after dodging every bullet and shadestepping behind every wall for pretty much my entire destiny life just to stay alive, it becomes very instinctive. so when I play as a titan, I'm still carefully planning my attacks. doing this also allows me some wiggle room in case I mess up, because I'm able to tank a lot of bullets. but let's be honest, there's no need to sneak around with a titan. but using these "tactics" anyway (without thinking), I pretty much doubled my average pvp score, which I won't complain about. however that's just me. titans don't need to play like that to be good, they're really pretty good (at least in pvp) all the way around.
now as for things I've noticed, let me just say this; you guys are HUGE bullet sponges. but also, because I play my hunter so much (and we have so many ways to avoid sticky situations), I realize that titans have no good evade unless you're going to use the twilight garrison. I've always known this, but I've never realized how important it actually is until today, playing in crucible without it. I'm sorry, my tanky bros :( but the good news is it's pretty easy to jump and hover above doorways to regenerate a bit of health, something I'm not able to do with my hunter! I hope a lot of you take advantage of that.
I'll also admit that using shoulder charge takes a bit of getting used to[spoiler]it's still pretty broken in my opinion, but oh well, what can you do?[/spoiler] your sticky grenades are also really powerful and actually do massive amounts of damage. AND the Hammer of Sol is pretty much the most satisfying thing ever. super fun to chuck flaming hammers at people halfway across the map! fist of havoc is also really great if you get the timing right[spoiler]i spent a lot of time dancing over people's ghosts today, I'm not going to lie, I got some sick kills with the hulk smash[/spoiler]
all in all, going from sneaky tactics to guns a blazin has proven to be a challenge. it was awkward at first but you titans have a really fun playstyle that works to your advantage, and I want to make a shoutout specifically to all you bubble bros. you sacrifice a lot of brute strength/power to help out your teammates and that's pretty awesome :) anyway, keep being amazing, and be sure to watch out for your squishy hunter friends next time you're in crucible, because sometimes we need a little extra protecting. we really do appreciate it, even if we do sometimes call you fat and slow... ;)

You don't see someone 1v3 in trials with a Titan but with a hunter if you know how to use a hunter it can bring great things who is using it. I do agree a bit that Titans don't take much as skill as hunters but that's how there supposed to be to tank . For me a Titan can be used many ways I run sunbreaker for the grenades with simmering flames and never use my super w/ eyas and LDR with truth that is how I play a Titan a little different than you probably see it as a shot gunning shoulder charging MOTHER -blam!-ING hammer throwing pice of shit easy class. Titans don't have anything really special about them except for the suppressor lightning grenade and shoulder xharge. That's why they feel so easy because they don't have anything to master unless you make a your own game type or load out master.

Which class can cross map with a super up to 4x and get multiple kills with each shot? Which class can crouch in a corner, turn Invis and shotgun suspecting & unsuspecting players alike? Which class can shade step shotgun like a vandal on crack? Or shadestep out of a rocket? Which class has perk that actually hunts damaged foes Which class has the highest k/d in the crucible? Which class out whines them all?? Oh that's right.......They're called Hunters!!! Hunters like you (passive or not) are the reason I pretty much quit playing the class all together..... I try to play all classed equally but I always feel I do better in crucible with either warlock or hunter. My first character I made when the game came out was a titan, so I'd say I main Titan. It takes me a few matches to get back in the saddle with my Titan compared to doing well instantly with the other two. I did figure out a nice way to play recently last iron banner. I'd have twilight Garrison on and I think defender. I'd stick with teammates abf when. Grenades came near or I'm close to death I'd jump and boost with TG behind cover or a door to recover. I went on like a ten kill streak on Delphi this way. It just felt smooth

10 RepliesI can actually jump from class to class in PvP. I flow smoothly from Titan to Hunter, but I have a somewhat abstract play style on my Warlock, leading to a bit of difficulty there.

2 RepliesThis here's some real stupid shit fam, bullet sponges? We all have more or less the same hp in pvp. I've played with both a hunter and titan in pvp and gotten over 30k+ kills with them and I can tell you this for sure, since day 1 hunters have been the most newbie friendly class.

3 RepliesI wouldn't call it "easy mode". Sure you can tank a lot of damage, but as a Titan you are supposed to be on the front lines. In PvP this means that YOU are leading the charge, baiting the enemy team, sacrificing yourself to challenge for enemy heavy, the one sticking around on the control point for the cap when the rest of your team flees, etc. So while you have more health/armour you also have more responsibility. This is a general PSA: if you are a Titan, play as a Titan - push aggressively, put pressure on the enemy team. If you are a Hunter, play as a Hunter - flank the enemies, pick off stragglers. The issue is, that if as a Titan you were sitting in the back playing as a Hunter, that means someone else had to pick up the slack; so while your K/D increased, someone else's likely suffered. Think about it, as a Titan 2v1 doesn't seem that bad...as a Hunter it can be a shit show, especially if you are up against 2 Titans. Lesson: there are classes for a reason, play to them.

Some reasons you might have had a good time as Titan compared to your usual experience as a Hunter: > Titan plays more to your natural talents or skills than Hunter. Unlikely, but possible. Hunter is probably more your speed, though, since you like Hunter and the abilities it has are informed by the lore around it. > Just some good games. I've tried playing Crucible on my Titan, and man, I just can't do it. It's just too different from Warlock, the jump feels weird, the Supers require different thinking, all the abilities are frontline oriented. It's not "hard" or "easy," it's just different. It's difficult for me, but my Glide jump is difficult for a lot of people. It's the only one that works for me, Double Jump and the others feel counterintuitive to me at this point.

1 ReplyMy only comment here is that you might have picked out with however many games you played. 1 day vs whatever amount of time you've played a Hunter is a pretty unfair compharison. I main a Titan, there are plenty of days where I do good most of the time, there are plenty of days where I get torn up like a piece of tissue paper sitting in front of a gatling gun, even though I play as a Titan. If you want the true Titan experience play as a Titan more. Just my opinion though, no h8 m8.

1 ReplyI've been a Titan main since my very first day on Destiny. And yeah some of the things we have access to are annoying af to deal with (I have a personal vendetta against juggernaut shotgunners) But being a giant bullet sponge for my buddies is amazing because I can body block for them if they're about to die. A good Titan defender can pinch out a pretty sneaky melee finish and tank with the overshield for quite a bit too. They're fairly fun to play in PvE too. But that RoI armor thoooough. Gimme my horns! Hammer of sol is fun in pvp when you catch a couple people together too. I've managed to kill an entire team with one hammer once, safe to say I had a fan girl moment. I'm glad you've opened yourself up to a bit more Titan love though! If you play on ps4 I'll gladly eat a couple bullets for you if ever needed.
