I have always had a great connection in Crucible, but since the last patch for some reason my connection has been terrible. I start every crucible match lately with a yellow bar and bounce around from the start of the match to the finish of the match between green and yellow (sometimes dipping into red bar).
I had been renting a Comcast gateway, but was getting real annoyed with not being able to get their hardware to port forward or get below a moderate NAT. As of yesterday I bought my own equipment to help with my issues to see if I could fix the problem.
I purchased the following Modem & Router:
- ARRIS SURFboard SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
- ASUS RT-AC87U Dual-band 4x4 AC2400 4-port Gigabit Gaming Router
I got the new equipment installed last night and right away I was greeted with an open NAT, but sadly my yellow bar STILL is happening in crucible matches. I am getting extremely frustrated with this issue as I don't like facing yellow/red bars and I don't want to play with that kind of connection and ruin the game for others.
A few more details:
- My wife & I are both playing at the same time on two Xbox One and both are hardwired in. (Both getting Yellow bar)
-Our internet is through Xfinity (Comcast). Here is a speedtest I ran last night and is the average we get daily. http://i.imgur.com/1EogYeL.jpg
Any advice or help would be fantastic. I just would really like to get this issue fixed before Rise of Iron comes out.

The bf and I ran into a similar issue via cable Internet from April to July. Turned out to be a broken fiber in our neighborhood. We replaced everything even connectors and cables with no improvement. We were getting high speeds and (usually) good ping but it was sputtering and inconsistent enough to mess with Destiny (only). We had to call our provider daily to have them run traceroutes to find the issue. They put an alarm on the line to determine what/when the issue was and found a bit had been exposed and broken and was allowing feedback into the line. They fixed it the next day and gave us credit. Check your packet loss on the Xbox speed test, and keep calling your provider. They don't take gamers seriously so tell them you need it for video conferencing. It needs about the same stability as Destiny.
