I was thinking the other day about the raid, and what we might expect, and I came to the conclusion (after a convoluted thinking process) that efrideet (or possibly another iron lord) will be the raid boss. Here is why. In the Forged in Fire ViDoc we get two snippets of in-game cutscenes. In the first, we see Saladin and the other Iron Lords fighting in what appears to be some kind of warmind bunker. The more interesting of the two is the one where we see a hand press down on a button and Saladin running forward with his axe, looking rather anguished. 8 Iron lords died. 8 were honoured. 2 survived - Saladin and Efrideet. What if in these cutscenes we are seeing memories of the Iron Lord's last stand against SIVA? SIVA killed 8 Iron Lords. (this is where stuff gets interesting) As stated in the Cosmodrome winter tour live stream, SIVA needs a mind to control it. So, in theory, SIVA also cannot exist without a hive mind. When the Iron Lords finally fought back SIVA, one needed to make the ultimate sacrifice to control it - to become SIVA itself. My theory is that Efrideet was the one who made the ultimate sacrifice - became SIVA, and locked herself in a warmind bunker forever. She hasn't been honoured like the rest of the Iron Lords as her sacrifice was much greater (maybe she gets her own place for recognition). This is what we are seeing when the hand slams down on the button - Efrideet locking herself in the vault. We also see Saladin witness what she is trying to do, and then charge to try and stop her, but he fails, and can't open the vault from the outside. So if all that proves to be true, the devil splicers when tunnelling didn't exactly find SIVA, but found Efrideet. When they find her she is now insane - driven mad by the technological plague and the loneliness of the vault, so imbues them with SIVA and so the corruption begins again. This would make Efrideet the source of SIVA, and you all know what that means - she'd be the raid boss (seeing as the raid is destroying SIVA at its source). EVIDENCE/SUB-THEORIES: -The raid is called wrath of the machine, and wasn't Efrideet an exo, making her a machine? -Bungie have hinted at a secret area of Felwinter Peak - what if it was an entire room/hall dedicated to Efrideet, the Iron Lord who made the ultimate sacrifice? -We know Bungie probably won't give us a giant servitor or a SIVA-fied Taniks, plainly because we've expressed that we don't like these things as raid bosses, so fighting a guardian would provide something fresh. -Possibly upon completion of the raid you get Efrideet's artifact (imagine if it was some OP sniper aim assist buff because of Efrideet being a sniper)? NOTE - IT MIGHT NOT BE EFRIDEET, RATHER ANOTHER IRON LORD (POSSIBLY) TL:DR - Efrideet could be the raid boss and source of SIVA due to certain small cutscenes and small pieces of evidence that have been given to us already, and Efrideet sealed herself in a vault and made herself SIVA, who was then discovered by the devil splicers later on.
