As a year one player, I cant help but remember fondly the first times I played this game. It is a curse though, seeing as how they've changed nearly every facet of this game since year one. I can think of an entire list!
-weekly strikes, for when you had only one source to get enough strange coins for xur
-nightfalls, when they actually sent you back to orbit. That was the entire challenge!!!
-ammo, I liked it when heavy ammo showed up more in the game than Xur. When I have a bounty pertaining to heavy, I think "crap, I didn't get the heavy, next ti-wait, there is no next time, heavy only shows up once a -blam!-ing game now". Hell, in vanilla, you could even pick up the ammo off of the people you killed!
-Xur, he used be the one to sell you exotics when RNG hated you and gear that would get you to the highest light. Now he's selling 280 light gear and 3oC!
-3oC, by far the worst thing to happen to this game. Back then, you couldn't farm exotics. There weren't even exotic engrams! The exotic game in year 1 was a substantial part of the end game, taking me six months to complete in year one. In ttk it took less than a month. I despise 3oC
-exotics, in vanilla, there was a balance to things. There were 2 exotics for every type of gun except for scout rifles which had mida, and a mythoclast filling the gap. In year 2, you didn't even add an exotic rocket or machine gun! Wtf
-exotic quest, in year one, 5 of 18 exotics had the honor of being in an exotic bounty. These were obtained at random and could be repeated as obtained. In year 2, there were 12 exotics linked to quests! Even more than that, the quests were not replayable and were locked by prerequisites that I finished in a month. The quests, combined with 3oC destroyed the exotic endgame and they didn't even bring the original bounties back as quests! Remember when you found Super Good Advice on Mars?
-no DLC, at the time, lots of people didn't like the DLC, but after a year of no new exotics (not even zen meteor, because Xbox), no new vendor weapons (1000 yard stare lasted longer than thorn), and nothing except for a strike, a new PoE, and a few extra guns, this year was really, really stale compared to year one which had 3 subsections.
-the taken event, for an entire year, you left us with shitty random taken spawns that went "oh are you doing something here? Let me just stop what you're doing and endlessly spawn enemies until you make us leave or we get bored". You got rid of the sword and the wolves which had, relics like the scorch cannon, treasure chests that we had to find, could be avoided, and more for the -blam!-ing taken!? If I had to guess, you won't even get rid of the taken for RoI because they are crucial to certain quests, but -blam!- the husk of the pit and the grimoire from all the wolves we scattered around
-combined arms, as the makers of halo, I thought it was a shame that you only had two vehicles and a turret useable on two maps. I figured you would add more as we went along. You did the opposite. You took the large maps out of the playlist, you never made a new map after skyshock, and I'm not even sure combined arms is in the weekly playlist! You replace them with the 3v3 ,also in a 6v6 playlist and then you wonder why shotguns are always so common!
-strikes, this is more of a personal disagreement on this one, but I hate the variants on the old strikes. In year one, you set the story. My fireteam goes to kill the archon priest, but run into vex already fighting them, so we find those off and kill the priest with all his fallen buddies. The taken weren't even invented then! Now you bring it back and the ghost is like "I guess the taken got to them first". The strike happened before the taken arrived! Where's the continuum?
-the factions, the original story focused on the different factions. In vanilla, we went out into the solar system and established what we were up against: the fallen are scavenging our ruins, the hive are trying to destroy us and the traveller, the vex are doing who the hell knows what with their reactivated spires, and the cabal are dug in on Mars. Next the hive try to invade us, we stop that, the house of wolves escapes from the queen and tries to unite the houses, alright, the taken come in because oryx is pissed about his son, sure, but bringing in another new faction after a year of no new plot development anywhere else? You better have a damn good story behind siva because I'm tired of waiting for something new to happen with the vex or a cabal raid (you know, maybe the cabal actually use their interceptors for once? THAT STILL HASNT HAPPENED)
-dinklebot, I have to acknowledge my title a little bit, so here, he said "we've woken the hive" way better than Nolan did.

One hundred percent accurate information

I want a blue flaming head back.

RNG tied to exotics in any way is complete crap. I'd honestly rather see them all as obtainable quests in-game. Bungue said they want people to look at your gear and know what you went through, and that's how it should be.

The more I read, the more I agreed lol.

Edited by Slaw Bunnies: 8/18/2016 12:45:26 PMAlso, every time I go into patrol I literally find myself saying "Man I miss the Blades of Crota. ;_;" That was probably the most fun event Bungie has had to offer us. The Scorch Cannon was badass but also made the event easier (shooting under the ship and holding down the trigger to kill all enemies dropped in one hit). Just running around with a Blade of a Hive Knight was just pure badass and everyone wanted to hold/use it. These were events people used to love participating in. I'm sure if the Taken events had more hands-on participation like using a relic (that's literally used through the entire raid pretty much) it would have been more fun. But nothing... NOTHING will probably beat The Blades of Crota. This new Iron Axe event has some potential though. It looked pretty cool during the trailer.
