"Sometimes fighting other guardians doesn't cut it. Sometimes you need to train by fighting the enemies. Here you can do it without getting hurt." -Lord Shaxx
What is the worst enemy in destiny? No, not the vex! It's lack of content. My idea could fix that (this is purely an idea from someone who plays a game, this will not be in the game)
What would simulation be?
Simulations would be an area where you can build your own mission and play other guardian's missions. There would be an infinite amount of content with this because people would make new levels everyday.
How would they work?
There would be an icon on the directory for the simulations. Upon clicking on it there would be two options. The first one would be "Find Simulation." Where you would be brought to a screen that showed the most popular simulations for that week (recommend level would change on the weekly reset) There would be other search options like "find me random simulations" that's will show you some random simulations and "friend's simulations which would show your friend's simulations that they created. You could also search them by name. Once you select a level it will show you a description of the level of the creator made one, and the option to play. Once you hit play you will go into the simulation and play it as a normal mission.
Creating a level
The second option would be "Create a Simulation" Selecting this one would take you to a screen where you can chose to start to create your simulation. You will be able to chose if you want to make it from scratch or from the locations in the game. After choosing what you want to do you can start to build your simulation. You could place enemies, add walls and floods. You could choose if you want the area to be a darkness zone and if there are modifiers on the simulation. The goal of the mission could be to scan an object, or kill an enemy or other things like make it to a certain area. After you finished creating your level, you would have to play the simulation and compete it. After that it would upload the simulation so other guardian's can play it.
What is the point of playing and creating simulations?
But why would you want to play/create simulations?
Reason for playing:
1. After playing all the missions in the game or just want a break from the strikes and the raids.
2. Playing simulations have small chances to drop simulation exclusive shader, emblems, emotes and sparrows.
Reasons for creating:
1. Ever had a good idea for a level? If you have, then creating a level would be something you would want to do.
2. Getting one of you levels to the top hundred recommended simulation of the week would give you an exclusive sparrow, if it is in the top fifty you would get an exclusive shader, if it is in the top twenty five you would get an exclusive emote. If it is in the top ten you would get an exclusive emblem
This is just an idea by a pike. But nobody ever listens to a pike.
Edit 1: I did not think that that this would trend. Neat.
Edit 2: I thought everybody would hate this idea. Apparently not.
Edit 3: So.... Much... Feedback
(Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes, way to lazy to go check)

Just gonna bump this

Its a simulation, inside another simulation.

Edited by Haunter: 8/17/2016 6:00:42 PMThis is similar to forge in halo, where you build a map/gametype (here mission or simulation) while the idea is great the fact that it took bungie 2 years to come out with a private matches where all you can really do is pick map/gametype/time/points/atmosphere, instead of actual customized game modes (again halo) makes me highly doubt we'll ever see this in D2 let alone D1, excellent concept and no doubt people would make amazing things but unfortunately it just won't happen.
We can always dream though...cabal ships are invading and there's a mac cannon just sitting there waiting for someone to use it....
This is a good idea. Obviously, you couldn't do bounties for them, though, as then people could create a level that makes it really easy to complete a certain bounty. (Although, simulation bounties could be a thing.) Also, Bungie would have to put in a lot of time to make them look ok. But if they do, it could be really cool.

I like this!

Ahh, an idea that's not horrible. A rarity, these days. I like it.
-
Maybe custom weapons to make as loot drop rewards? With a limit to fire rate and impact etc I.e impact goes up, fire rate goes down
-
*cough* snapmap *cough*

Great idea
-
I've made so many custom mission ideas over the years, so I would LOVE this! BUMP
-
I LITERALLY HAD THE SAME IDEA. Good post btw!

Mine: Dismantle mines. Yeeeeesssss?
-
I like this idea. But I can't help but think of a situation where Shaxx can't get it working an Cayde helps him out but won't give him the acess keys unless he gets his own simulation room. XD

Cool idea but I just see people just making a 1 minute level just to somehow say nerf fusion rifles

Edited by Hwood98: 8/16/2016 11:32:11 AMThere were simulations. You turning in legendary engrams and getting a blue was a Rahool ass pounding simulation.

Or or, another take, we could play through simulations of older events in the Lore. Play as Saladin or something at twilight gap. That could also be fun.
-
Make this happen!
-
Oh this would be awesome
-
Basically, DOOM's SnapMaps?
-
Can we at least add Randal the Vandal as a boss?

Edited by Atom Alchemist: 8/16/2016 6:50:10 AMsure...if you enjoy enjoy playing a truly torturous jump puzzle made by the guys who make their crazy super mario maker levels.

I think the exclusive sparrow and emblem should switch places, since i see the sparrow would more worth than an emblem
-
Maybe if this was a PC based MMO made by a reputable company instead of a micro transaction quickly thrown together bunch of horseshit.
-
This is grand. And genius. Brilliant idea.
