How about adding another column of perks to chest pieces and helmets that can protect against different hazards??
Some examples:
Ceramic plating - negates X % of Sniper, Scout, Hand Cannon, and LMG damage... Penalty to energy and explosive damage.-1 agility
Kevlar lining - negates X % of small arms (this excludes scout rifles and hand cannons) and sidearm damage... Penalty to Sniper and LMG damage
Chainmail Base Layer - negates X % of Sword and melee damage... -1 agility, penalty to DOT damage
Thermal Padding - Negates X % of energy, and DOT damage... Penalty to sword and melee damage
Flak Resistant armor - Negates X % of shotgun, and explosive damage (ie. Rockets, grenades, barrels or in this case, cubes🎁); -1 agility, penalty to small arms damage
This would apply to all armor rare or higher that would drop in future expansions.. You'll have the option to stay neutral, or change to one of these defensive perks... It would be nice to alter your defense depending on the situations you're facing... It would severely alter the way gunfights are decided, and actually help the archetypes that aren't the current meta...
Let me know what you all think... If this concept should be implemented or not..

They'll all just cry Nerf in a matter of days and it'll be useless anyways....

Edited by sharkhunter81: 8/6/2016 4:21:55 PMThese post are interesting at the same time they irritate the shit out of me. I can tell from the content, you thought about this long and hard and the idea or concept itself sound very interesting, but that's where it's irritating. People are still throwing good ideas around to make this game better, but we can't even get bungie to manage the day to day game play. Go take a look at the "wish list". It's laughable how enormous it has become and how very little of it has ever EVER been addressed. I'd say, although this is a cool idea and you sound like someone who knows a little something about real-world protective wear and how it could relate to the damage modifiers in this game, we have so many other basic needs that are not being met. For example...lag and Redbars in crucible, matchmaking, nerfing the nerf war, hit detection, obsolete content, strike and crucible map expansion, private lobbies, p2p connections...the list is almost endless. Just take a look at cozmo's "wish list" Ps, the irritation I mention is not at good and well thought out ideas like what you have hear, but just that these things can and won't ever be implemented due to the fact that bungie has become impotent and can't or refuse to even fix the major issues we face everyday. Bungie is a flaccid penis right now.

Explain this to me; How would wearing a different set of armour reduce the damage I deal with my trusty Last Word or Hawkmoon?
-
Where us negitive shotgun damage? You know the most used spiecal weapon in the game?
-
-
-
LMFAO your post says you even want things nerfed.
-
2 much. But would add diversity. Sum else will break. Believe me.
-
Bump. You could also go the other way with some armor. Like adds agility and more energy but -1 armor. Stuff like that.
-
This warrants consideration by the devs. One more bump here to keep it going.
-
-
This is indeed interesting
-
Interesting ideas, bump.

Destiny will never be a balanced pvp game. It's not possible with pve gear and weapons being allowed in the crucible. The thing is, being able to use all these different set ups and subclasses is what makes pvp fun and different from other shooter games.
-
This concept is certainly interesting. Unfortunately, I can't see Bungie putting it into action. If they did, though? I reckon we'd go back to the kind of weapon/armour diversity we had in Y1. PvE and PvP could benefit from this. Good job, sir.

Edited by xx14wilson14xx: 8/5/2016 11:31:16 PMThe main down side I seen right away is that this would only promote camping with snipers even more, or corner camping shotgun users.
-
So scared Bungie is to actually expand classes farther away. Pretty much all the same stat wise
-
How about tell Bungie to grow a pair...
-
Nah. How about everyone just nut up and play through
-
As long as you can't tank a longbow headshot ;)
-
If they simply balance shoulder charge and Stormcaller, none of the other would be needed.
-
Because balance, that many variables would be insanely difficult to balance.
-
That is a solid idea. Good work!
