This loot system sucks.
Seriously. The RNG system for loot sucks. It's absolute crap when you can be looking for the same gun for months only for someone else to have gotten six of them by the time you've gotten one. Bungie I doubt you'll respond to this or even care but seriously your RNG system is punishing and makes the grind even less fun. If it's not a raid weapon then you have no guarantee that you'll ever see it. Sure Xur sells exotics but we have no resource to guarantee that we'll eventually get the legendaries were looking for. For example. I've been trying to get my hands on the Party Crasher +1 and the Y-09 Longbow Synthesis for the past two months and I've yet to get a single one of either. I've ranked up my crucible rank across all three characters about a total of twenty times and have only gotten useless armor or crap guns. No Longbow at all. I've also been in Crucible lobbies where I'll come in first place in the entire lobby and not get any rewards that are worth it. I've got three 335 characters and blues are not good compensation for destroying the enemy team. Hell, I spent a good four months just searching for the MIDA because Xur never sold it and I could never seem to get anything but Last Words and HAwkmoons out of Exotic Primary engrams. I finally got it randomly at the end of an Oryx challenge a couple of months ago. This shouldn't take this long and I shouldn't be this stressed out over just a couple of guns that should be easy enough to get. Fix this shit Bungie. Please.
Edit: I'm honestly surprised about the traction this got. This is the first thread I've made that actually blown up like this so thanks to you all for at least taking the time to read and reply to it. I never thought Cozmo would respond but here he is. I guess a little ranting every now and then does get noticed from time to time.

1 ReplySo many people on here think they are entitled to everything. Don't worry i'm sure in Destiny 2 all the guns you want will be handed to you. Every engram you pop in Destiny 2 will give you something you don't have. All you have to do when Destiny 2 comes out is come on the forums and whine about not getting what you are "entitled" to, and i'm sure Bungie will put it in your vault.

Everyone can't have the same guns and just because you aren't getting what you want doesn't mean things are broken. This is the whole essence of games like this. It's all about the loot hunt. If that's a problem for you then maybe this game isn't for you. I think it's probably worth pointing out that you do have a Longbow on your hunter.

3 Repliescrazy idea here,.... rng to determine quantity of rewards (or qty set by event) and allow player to choose their reward(s). You'll still have to do the raid/quest/strike etc. x number of times for a complete armor or weapon set but you would at least have a path to completion. At present, one might NEVER get what they are looking for, it's unacceptable and offensive to the player base - might be why so many left? Whoever it was on your staff that came up with the idea of RNG should be tarred and feathered late 1700's bad politician style. I hear it takes weeks to get that outta your hair. Even better idea, let players select desired rewards before beginning an event (qty restricted of course) and adjust difficulty to reflect the value of the loot! We all remember how much fun it was getting the Black Spindle, it was rough, especially at low light level but because we KNEW exactly what we were playing for we stuck it out and earned it. Not many ppl on my friends list play the nightfalls regularly anymore, the loot isn't worth squat,..strange coins, marks, sparrows, horns,..come on really? Let me choose an exotic and play for it. You could use player selection choices as a metric for how players want to play the game and what type of new loot they want to see, built in feedback. And, personally, I vote we lose the freak show gear. I don't want to look like a freak from some post apocolyptic zombie/alien show walking around with bones and crap all over me. How is this modern or futuristic? IMO it doesn't fit the narrative for the story.

7 RepliesThen what you're saying is that loot-based RPGs are not the games for you...and you need to go to a game with a system of unlocks like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Because RNG loot systems are an essential part of loot-based game's like this. ...and since the April Update, this game's loot system has become one of the most user-friendly, and rewarding loot systems in business right now. You're problem is that you are looking for two SPECIFIC items (and probably specific rolls on those items) and THAT is a recipie for frustration when dealing with ANY game with an RNG loot system. You can't FORCE the game to give you something simply by grinding. Because specific items have a low probability of dropping...and it may never drop for YOU, no matter how long you play. So part of having fun with a game like this, is ACCEPTING that there are no guarentees of ever getting any specific item. So you don't set yourself up for frustration and disappointment by making your enjoyment of the game dependant on getting that ONE thing.

20 RepliesAgree on legendary part but disagree on exotic part. IMO exotics should be more rare than they are atm and they should perform better than most exotics atm, no point using most of the exotics cos legendarys can outgun them.

1 ReplyAlthough I agree that pvp reward suck cuase the loot pool is too big they need to reward play as well so to incourage poeple to actually play the game even more so in strikes.

1 ReplyI've got all the rng exotic weapons and armor for the hunter from pve so I can say it's ok in pve but pvp I will agree is broken I only play for iron banner gear and the method I use is rubber band the joysticks and a spinning fan to hit the trigger every few seconds then walk away and watch tv for awhile

I know it's RNG drop rates are terrible.. especially since stuff is still rare to find. *COUGH Praetorian foil COUGH* in plus I've gotten 22 bonds out of my last 30 rank up packages for crucible. And the bond drop is great for everyone, except the fact that that's almost the only thing they get. Once again thats the drop rates in an RNG being tangled with. Which is really stupid considering its RNG. Stuff isn't supposed to be rare in rng

1 ReplyI realize that armor is probably "weighted" more heavily, because everyone seems to want weapons... but getting gauntlets and boots constantly (with the occasional helmet) gets old.

I know your pain with the pc+1. 11 months and I have dropped 4 and none of which had anything other than stability perks on them. all of them were essentially useless. crucible drop rates need to go back up to HoW level where an hour of play would see you drop at least 1 maybe even 2 legendary weapons. armour is wayyyyyy too common to drop. I have 334/335 across the board and even resorted to carrying a 330 or below special to try and force a pc+1 to drop from rank ups and nope you drop a helmet. at this point I am nearly giving up on ever getting a pc+1 that can do anything of use. 11 months and nothing and in 1 more month RoI comes out and probably more weapons + armour come in to the loot pool meaning even less chance to drop one lol. I think I am just never going to get one now

I feel the same as far as universal remote goes, endless duplicates from exotic engrams and drops. Rather frustrating, same also goes for a hunter helmet, 7 knucklehead radar helmets from 7 engrams. As far as exotics go, should be similar to legacy engrams, higher chance at something you don't have

Been trying to get The Jade Rabbit and pretty much said fuq this game and just gonna wait for Xur to sell it. Overwatch and Battlefield 4 for me til then.

I can't recall the last time I've gotten a weapon from leveling the Vanguard...always turns into armour and my last 4 have been helmets. The game still HAS NOT GIVEN ME A TELESTO. In all of year two the dozens and dozens of special exotics I've turned in, still no Telesto. 80% or more of the exotic engrams I've gotten and even legendaries all turn into armour. Trials of Osiris gold tear bounties always turn into either the pulse rifle or handcanon...still no Doctrine or Inward Lamp...yet everybody I play with complains that all they get are Doctrine of Passing.
