The Nature of the Elements
Hello, it is I, TriumphantLord. This my first lore/concept/anything post, so constructive feedback is welcome and appreciated. Enjoy!
Now, I dunno about y'all, but I've seen a large influx of 'New Element' posts and I've noticed a lot potential misconceptions and misinformations. While there is nothing in the Grimoire itself to back what I'm about to say, there is logic and science. First off, it seems many people are confusing 'light' and 'The Light'. This is expected, as they are the same word, however in the Destiny Universe they are not in fact the same. The'Light' is a fundamental force of nature and philosophy that we, as Guardians, follow. It is also known as the 'Sky', and is the natural opposite of the Darkness. Generic light has to do with photons and particles reflecting off of objects into our optic nerves. Also, the point of much speculation about a potential 'New Element', is having to do with light, and not what the other elements have direct connections to. •Solar represents heat and thermal energy, which is a simple concept, but the magic is in the second characteristic: light. •Arc is an representation of electricity and lightning, as well as a binding force. The main correlation with fundamental ideas of science is energy. •Void is commonly viewed as the absence of light, but this isn't exactly true. It is a gravitational force; a singularity in space. It is arguably the most complex and difficult to understand, but basically it's just science. Along with the other elements, it has a conclusion drawn from its behavior, and that is force. Here we are, the stuffs of the universe: light, energy, and force. However, one could argue that they all have a connection to energy, and I would say you're right. Arc is the most tethered(huehue) to energy, but they all have their place. Hopefully I have enlightened you all about the nature of these fundamental elements, and that you may take this into consideration when you discuss them. Edit: I took notice to the Grimoire cards, and have seen that arc is more of a binding force. I think this could be paired with the concept of a circuit, but I just thought I'd add that tidbit of information. I will edit the body accordingly. Edit #2: This thread got kinda big(not including my own bumps), and I thank y'all for that. Below, HDuvallH has made some interesting points that I think are worth noting.
