Halo Terminal-style Video clips explaining the Lore from the Grimoire Cards

I'm sure this has been asked already however I thought this would be the best way to incorporate the lore into the game itself The Grimoire should be accessible either in the pause menu or at a terminal in the Tower/Reef/Felwinters Peak area. When you select a Grimoire Card, you read it what it's all about and then you press Triangle or Circle or Square and it plays a video or cutscenes that helps immerse you into the lore and understand some substance and context about what you're doing on how the story is progressing It's all well and good being an explorer game and "creating your own story" but even still the Grimoire helps us create our own story

  • Yes, I know I'm not going to take the time to find the cards online. So vids would be great. Only reason I know anything about the lore is from listening to the Ghost stories podcast while at work.

  • I mean they could even just have it link to YouTube videos through the game. People have made great lore vids. They should hire them.

Great idea! Prior to this post, i didnt really see a point in grimoire in game, as im happy to read through the app. But the terminals and cutscenes and such sound great, yeh i dig it. Solid suggestion man.

    • I would like this feature or have it at the speaker. I feel as though he is a wasted npc and this would give him more reason to be there. Nice idea though :)

I think this is a fantastic idea, but I would just like to add to it in one way, as I heard someone mention this same concept. The terminal videos should be accessed via the Speaker! He is depicted as a very knowledgeable and mysterious character, so lore-wise his ability to voice grimoire, and show us glimpses of the past (cutscenes/cinematics) increases immersion. Imagine that. You approach the Speaker, hold the button to speak to him, and a few menus pop up in a very similar format as the Moments of Triumph/SRL books. The first page features all the aspects of his current inventory. The 2nd page is titled Grimoire, and is specifically suited to voice-overs of the grimoire in which the Speaker and other characters voice and read over the grimoire. The 3rd page is titled Flashbacks or something along those lines, and features a collection of various animations (like the Halo terminals where there was concept-art-like animations telling the story), or just straight up cutscenes of events from the past (and perhaps the future hehe... lol). NOTE: When activating a Flashback, a very brief cutscene activates showing the Speaker conjuring a hologram-like orb similar to the ones in his room, and placing it between himself and the player, in which the camera pans inside of it, and the Flashback begins. Hence, more immersion. These are my thoughts on the matter, and I think they would be so helpful for the in-game lore aspects.

      • That is a great idea. I just hope if it's something they do implement it's done before release. We all know how well updates seem to go..
