Weapon Re-Rolling in Year 3...

So, as most of you know, in Year 1 we had an option on most Legendary Weapons to "Reforge" the Weapon. What this means is that you were, generally speaking, able to re-roll a Weapons perks, and you could keep doing this until you ran out of materials or got a roll that you liked. And as we all know, we no longer have the option to do so. Admittedly, this "Reforge" option broke the balance of the game. It was very cheap to do, meaning, again, you would most likely have the materials to re-roll a Weapon as many times as you wanted. I have a solution to this problem, so here it is! "Reforge" Reforged ~ Introduced with the Rise Of Iron DLC, there will be a new option on Legendary Weapons known as "Reforge Ready". With this option, you will be able to essentially re-roll a Weapon's perks. But wait, there's more! There's a hefty price tag for an option as powerful as this. I will go into detail below with the different choices (or mistakes! lol) you can make, and how much those choices will cost! Option 1: (Updated)This choice will "Reforge" the Weapon completely. This encompasses the sights, the first set perk, the middle perk tree, the second set perk, and the Elemental Damage for Special and Heavy Weapons. Selecting this option will cost the following amount of Materials/Currency; 5 Motes of Light, 10 Weapon Parts, 2 Telemetries for that Weapon's respective class, and (now) 2,500 Glimmer. Option 2: This choice will Reforge the Weapons Sights, and just that. The Sights include all the Sights available for that Weapon class. Selecting this option will cost the following amount of Materials/Currency; 2 Motes of Light, 1 Weapon Part, and 2,000 Glimmer. Option 3: This option will Reforge the Weapon's first set perk. This encompasses all available set perks for that slot in each Weapon's respective class. Selecting this option will cost the following amount of Materials/Currency; 10 Motes of Light, 15 Weapon Parts, 2 Telemetries for that Weapon's respective class, and 5,000 Glimmer. Option 4: This option will Reforge the Weapon's middle perk tree. This encompasses all available mid-tree perks for that Weapon's respective class. Selecting this option will cost the following amount of Materials/Currency; 10 Motes of Light, 10 Weapon Parts, 2 Telemetries for that Weapon's respective class, and 3,250 Glimmer. Option 5: This option will Reforge the Weapon's final set perk. This encompasses all available final set perks for that Weapon's respective class. Selecting this option will cost the following amount of Materials/Currency; 10 Motes of Light, 15 Weapon Parts, 3 Telemetries for that Weapon's respective class, and 5,000 Glimmer. _____________________ So, how'd you like them apples? All criticism is welcome in the comments below. If you agree, tell me why! If you disagree, let me know what you would do differently and why, or why you wouldn't want it at all if that's the case! Please try to be as civilized as possible with me and your fellow guardians. Please don't be rude or hateful in the comments, as you will be muted and reported, and I would recommend you, the reader, to do the same.
Don't be a douche
Edit: I and another guardian seem to have thought of another alternative to the main idea, so here it is! Reforge V2 ~ Once a week, on that oh-so-special day when we can feel the god rolls in the air, you will have the chance to Reforge a Weapon you love. It will completely re-roll all the perks, and Elemental damage if it applies. Weapons from Raids, Trials of Osiris, and Iron Banner will not have this option. This option will cost the following Materials/Currency; 25 Legendary Marks, 15 Motes of Light, 25 Weapon Parts, 2 Telemetries of that Weapon's respective class, and 10,500 Glimmer.

  • If i just grinded for 70 hours last week (i do that, lol) to get a longbow but i get garbage perks, i should reroll that for NOT a hefty price. For example. If i got an incredibly long range scope that i hate, i can no longer use the weapon. No h8 tho, jmo.

    • I'm ok with this as long as I get to try to change the life support on my longbow to last resort.

      • Absolutely not. I love the idea of rerolling different rows for cheaper, as sometimes only one row is bad, but these prices are way too expensive. I do agree that the prices in Year One were absurdly cheap, but these new prices, I'm not having it. This is beyond overcompensation. It usually takes 15 rerolls to get a god roll, especially with the fluff and awful perks added to TTK. It would take as long to grind out this 15 times than to just get the gun to drop godroll like now

      • Reforge should be free. Let players get what they think they want, Bungle. It will make the game more enjoyable. It's all about fun, isn't it?

      • So people are against the original reforge because it would decrease the longevity of the game? Simple solution dipshits don't reforge then. I've played this game long enough and have yet to see the loot system get any better. After years of playing games like Diablo where legendary loot drops so often, Destiny system is completely -blam!-ing boring. If it didn't take forever to get something to drop people wouldn't be bitching about this system to begin with. Not only does it take forever for something to drop, but the chances of it having shit perks are high when it does. Reforge would alleviate the chore of grinding for a certain weapon to drop. Let's be honest here as well, it's not like the guns people grind for are the best overall weapons in game. Imago loop while really sought after is not that as useful in PVE as running a scout... I have yet to want to use a hand cannon over a scout in PVE.

        • There needs to be reforming in the game at least in some degree. If there isn't they need to do one of two things: 1. Significantly increase weapon drop rates. Not just 2x either. I'm talking a huge increase. 2. Remove just about every perk added from TTK as just about all of them are terrible.

        • Just make it cost 50 marks a reroll and give you three roll options just like on armsday.

          • No need to make reforge extreme expensive. Just limit the amount of times. 3, 5 or 10 times max? After that your weapon is locked and you can no longer reforge it.

          • If you could reforge a weapon ONLY ONCE but for really cheap, meaning you have a change to turn a roll you hate into a god roll, and since you only have one chance you can't keep repeating it, meaning that you like the hawksaw but it has a crap roll, you want another chance, give 1 telemetry, 5 motes and 10 legendary marks to try again and either get the roll of your dreams or guerrilla fighter i don't think it's broken since the only way to reliably get the weapon you want is to buy the vendor rolls but... You can't keep buying them continuously

            • I like it said this before that they should bring it back just increase the cost everytime kinda like division and make it use materials that ppl don't have an abundance of or a cap like legendary marks if it cost 100-200 legendary marks as well it would deter ppl from just re-rolling till they get all the desired perks. The other option I like was to be able to infuse perks from other weapons but only the same type. Too many rewards turn into 3 legendary marks. The reason is for example I have only gotten 1 longbow from over 70 crucible reward packages. Imo it would balance the game more as it would take a bit of rng out of the balance issue. That way everyone can have a sniper with shortgaze, snapshot, hidden hand instead of just the lucky -blam!-ers. One of the biggest balance issues Imo is that some guns with certain perk combos make them a lot better than others. Since it is all rng atm some ppl just have better perks and therfore better guns.

              • Although I think 5,000 glimmer is to much I would happily pay 2,000 a time to reforge with nodes of light or wepeon parts I like the idea of changing the different parts but taking telemanties off us most just use nodes to level up I never use a telemanties anymore. I want reforge back cuase I work hard to get these guns and they have rubbish parts but I don't want to take them apart cuase their my reward but they have rubbish perks.

I would like to see reforging come back in some capacity too. I've up-voted this post. I've had ideas similar to this, but I never bothered to make a post about it. I think you should be able to re-roll all perks and sights for the cost of say 15 legendary marks and 25 weapon parts, but you can only re-roll a weapon 15 times. After the 15th time, the weapon changes will become permanent to prevent the weapon from accidentally dismantling due to excessive reforging. This will add an element of risk to re-rolling as well as a limit. I'd rather have a limit to how many times I can re-roll than have to use a whole bunch of different materials, etc. because Bungie will make the required materials ridiculously difficult to acquire, which means we will find it difficult to use them for other things. For example, if Bungie makes Motes of Lights super rare, it will make levelling up our weapons, factions and, gear an extremely tedious task once again, especially if we are also using them to re-roll loads of different weapons

                • I think the thing that made reforging such a big hit was the low cost. I know a large number of people that burned through a ton of weapon parts and glimmer doing it. Myself included to some extent. Anyway, I like the idea of being able to reforge a specific tree of perks. IMHO I think maybe you have the costs reversed though. Think of it this way, you've got a near god role, 3 out of 4 tree's are ideal, isn't it worth more to you to role the dice on the third tree? I mean really, a complete reforge is more likely than not going to ruin your weapon that's already pretty godly. So to me the complete reforge should be the cheapest option, simply because of the fact the odds of you getting a god role are against you in a big way (think of how often that happened in Y1 reforging and how often it happens now in a drop). Also consider how pissed off you'd be reforging a bad role and having it come back with a near identical role and you just blew through half your glimmer etc... the forums would be overrun with complaints. Anyway, great idea but I'd lower the costs overall and probably reverse the structure you suggested. I'd also simplify it a bit I think, simply put: a price for a full reforge as the cheapest option, then you can buy 3 trees of your choice, 2 trees, or a single tree reforge which would be the most costly. To me I wouldn't worry about which perk tree it is that you want, I'd leave the price static for simplicity. Anyway just my 2 bits hehe...

                    • How about EXOTIC artifacts that mean something with the ability to be worn with an exotic piece of armor. Give me an artifact that gives rangefinder on all my equipped primary weapons. Give me an artifact that gives me rifled barrel on my primary weapons. Give me an artifact that adds arc damage to my primary. Give me an artifact that adds void damage resistance Give me an artifact that adds third eye to my primaries. Give me an artifact that allows me to have two grenades. Give me an artifact that gives me firefly to my heavy weapons or special weapons.

Honestly too expensive. Make it a time game and lower the price. Turn in weapons, get reforged weapons of the same type from the gunsmith on Arms Day. That way you still slow down crazy reforging, but also don't require crazy grinding to only end up with another crappy roll...
But I can't help it!
• I don't see reforging as a bad thing. It's definitely better than grinding strikes millions of times to finally get that perfect imago loop. And yes there are people that do that and more power to them. But to me that's too much grinding. Year 1 had set perks for certain weapons and I think some of them should return. And what about these perks that shouldn't be on certain weapons such as danger close on a rocket launcher? Or what about added stability perks on a gun with near perfect stability? I know it's RNG but it's already a pain to get the gun to drop. So why can't there be reforging? Sure a lot of people will have easy access to god rolls but the more people that have access means the more balanced the game will be.

                              • Way too expensive. Honestly it was fine before but people couldn't be special snowflakes so they cried about rerolling on the forums. What should happen is we can buy any gun we want from the gunsmith. Then we farm for perks out in the wild. We then take those perks back to the gunsmith to put wherever we want. Want two hidden hand job perks? No problem. They would act like chroma so if we wanted to change the weapon the perks would disappear and you would have to pay to put the new perks that we farm on the weapon frame. Some perks you can only get from certain activities like nightfalls, raids, lighthouse...
