add 3d character support to android devices
i just downloaded the companion on my android tablet and when i logged on i was a little annoyed that 3d character models are not supported on android devices.
is this a bug? or are 3d models really not supported on android devices yet?

It's your device I had a note 2 and it didn't work on there and when I got my s7 it worked. It's all depends on device capabilities

Scroll down to SETTINGS, under "User Settings" make sure "3D Character Gear" box is checked. If you still have issue, reinstall the app. Last, there must be server issue with bungie (which you have wait for it to be fixed) or the app feature no longer supported on your device (which is on some what on herd of yet)
