What is Everyone's Problem with Raids?
Okay, frankly, I've never completed a raid, but, I have a good reason... Every time I try to do a raid - by either starting a fireteam or joining one - a majority, if not all, the other people leave because a few mistakes were made by one person. Or, the fireteams require that you have already completed the raid before, but guess what, by doing that no one will gain experience to help you in the future, plus, some people learn how to very quickly. I believe that these groups should be willing to let people without experience to join, if only so that those people can grow and also be helpful to others in the future. Sure, I understand that you want to get through the raid quickly, but you may be causing other less-experienced players strife and, for me at least, a lack of want to play multiplayer games and Destiny especially. Also, some people may have never completed the raid, but know how to do most, if not all, of the raid from watching video outlets such as YouTube, and also by conversing with other Guardians. I don't care if you agree or disagree with this, but I certainly see a problem here.
EDIT: Since a lot of people are offering help, I'm on PS3. This edit is to keep this discussion going without me constantly saying "Sorry, I'm on PS3, but thanks anyway." Also, I'm not just talking about Kingsfall, I'm talking about all raids.
UPDATE: I just completed VoG with a bunch of friends. We did the opposite of my complaints and powered through as well as we had somebody with the patience to teach me and another person.

For two weeks (almost everyday) I tried to help as many new raiders as I can with kingsfall for their MoT 2. That was my goal. Now I've shelved the game and just waiting for the new dlc to drop. I honestly have to say, it's very exhausting trying to get new players to complete the raid. I understand wiping 10-15 times at totems. But 32 times is when my brain shuts off. It's funny, sometimes I get lucky and get five new guys who will listen and flies through the raid like they're professionals. But a lot times, I just want to put my head through the TV. Last week, I think I had the worst luck ever. 5 new players at golgoroth, doing challenge. For some reason the unstable light kept falling on this one guy. The first time he killed the team because he forgot. So I explained to the whole team that if you get it, get out. For another 7 times, unstable.light falls on the same guy and he cause us to wipe.

3 RepliesI usually raid with a couple friends and fill the fire team with guardians from LFG. We intentionally try to grab players who are first timers just because we don't like to see the "must be" or "must have" requirements on every post. We've all been there.

I wonder this myself. On one hand, using raids to gate progression encourages a shitty attitude, but at the same time, people need a reason to run them. I don't know what the answer is here, but I'm happy that all activities since April are rewarding in some way.

I've sherpa'd quite a few gaurdians through all of the raids. Usually people learn fairly quick and it doesn't take all day but every now and then I've come across some players that i just can't bare with. It's either a shitty attitude or they literally can't play the game at all. And its these few players that have caused people to start leaving early because sometimes it can keep the team from progressing. It wasn't as bad on the vault or crotas end cause you didn't need all the players but in kings fall most of the activities need a minimum of 5 players (Or less for very experienced teams). So losing 1 person consistently can make it very difficult to finish the raid

1 ReplyMy issue with inexperienced players lies solely with the ones that don't listen and are only there to be carried to loot. If someone hasn't done the raid before and actually bothers to speak up about it so that they can be taught, I have no problem teaching them. Unfortunately, the number of inexperienced players who want a carry outnumber those who actually want to learn, in my experience - especially with hard mode King's Fall's MOT inclusion.

3 RepliesIts only going to get worse as the years go by in destiny. Each raid will be more convoluted and difficult than the previous raid. It already started with kings fall. Vog and oryx were easy you mostly just had to rely on one or two people who knew what they were doing. Kf if one person screws up its a wipe. Bungie loves that lol so they'll keep make the raids that way. I don't care though as long as they provide alternate pve ways to reach max light level its all good.

Two things. One, there are TONS of people on the Internet that will Sherpa new players. Two, you can also watch YouTube videos about how the raid works before you do it. Datto for example has an excellent series of raid guides on YouTube. I know knowledge doesn't equal experience, but it's a start.

Watching a video is a great help when entering a raid for the first time, but don't confuse having watched a video and talking about raid encounters for actual experience in that raid. That being said, I've run into alot of players who claim to have raided before (on that specific raid) and end up not having a clue what to do when it comes to the major aspects (ie they don't know how to hold a relic, gaze, or aura).

You're on ps3 and that's the problem. I can only imagine what kind of people you run into on lfg using a legacy console.

Inexperienced players think light means skill. Play the normal mode first, master it, then try the hard raid.

Secondly, watch the videos and follow EXACTLY how people do the mechanics of the raid. Thirdly, post of LFG or the100.io for groups that have sherpas. And finally, stop complaining on the forums.

I gain experience with each group I complete it with, which really helps when I run it with my clan. you gotta have time to invest into this game, because it's not a 10 minute strike, it's a careful sequence of events which must be followed and if someone fails, everyone needs to know how to adapt. there are groups out there willing to help people, but they won't help you do it on hard. you need to learn the fundementals in normal if you want to complete the hard raid. just sayin's all. I've been here for awhile and alot of people have helped me, as I've returned the favor.

The raids have been that way since day one must have chatter white or glow hoo or queens Web find an active clan for n8ghtfalls and raids is a good start

Vault of glass is fun but has no purpose at a high level, therefore is only worth doing every once and while or if no one has done it. Crota's end is a glorified strike, but has its fun moments, has same issue as vault of glass. King's Fall overuses jumping segments and becomes hopelessly tedious, not to mention the actual boss fight with oryx is not a fight, it is just a jumping segment. However, it does make it worthwhile as the components require 6 players working together. Those are my pros/cons with the raids.
