I'm sure this has been talked about in the Past, but please make it happen in your next big Update.
Think on all the fun you could have with your Fireteam instead of Randoms, It'll certainly alleviate the content droughts Destiny suffers at times.
Curious thing: In the Intro video about the "Gjallarwing" you can see 5 guardians communing in the snowy cosmodrome, which is Patrol.
EDIT
I know you can do this before entering the Vault of Glass, however we're missing some planets and a Dreadnaught.

That rep grind would be so real haha

I miss doing court of oryx when you go in with 3 and there were already 5 people doing it and it was chaos :)

I was just thinking that if they do this they should rework the beacon bounty situation entirely. Instead of all green beacons they should be color coded in order of difficulty. For example: Green- Easy missions found in obvious places. Usually only single step and consist of the regular missions you know and hate (look at something, go somewhere and scan something)etc. These would reward you with minimal xp. Yellow- Faster blinking beacons rarer than their green brethren and are found in harder to reach areas such as within caves and isolated areas (Take for example the many caves in areas of Venus). These beacons provide multi-step bounties that could range from your average scouting missions that have you tracking certain areas, to fighting off ambushes that suddenly appear. Two to three separate missions would be included in these beacons and the rewards would be moderately high xp as well as legendary engrams or specific sparrows (God willing) Red- There particular beacons are incredibly rare, showing up in only the most secluded areas and only then at pre determined times. They don't blink and instead simply stay red, not to mention they're usually heavily guarded. Finding these beacons is equivalent to starting a story mission and will be guided by one of the tower members. These bounties involve you going up against nightfall level enemies and even some hidden area bosses. In addition they have the possibility of taking place in multiple areas at once, so some can only be completed with a full or almost full fire team. Red beacons are comprised of a total of five separate bounties that each must be completed Ina timely manner. Should you fail one you will have to foreigners the bounty. The reward for this type of challenge could be not only a series of buffs only active during patrol but possibly some patrol specific weapons as well. If possible it would be cool to incorporate some form of exotic chance into the reward system of these red beacons.

People are already complaining because they can't find 6 people to do Iron Banner or a raid. Why would anyone actually use 6 man patrols? I haven't seen anymore than a 2 man patrol since early TTK, and that was only on the Dreadnought for CoO. #TitanMasterRace

Patrol is a useless activity that barely anyone does on a regular basis. Unless it is heavily revamped with content, this is a total waste of time.

1) LAG - have you considered how much lag you could get in a 6-man patrol with people spread all over the world. It can be bad enough in 3v3 pvp and they don't even have adds there 2) all patrol areas would probably have to be reworked. 3 people can keep an area clear easily. If there are more then people get frustrated because they can't get kills so you would need to increase the number of adds 3) the stuff from the gjallawing trailer is probably a mixture of cutscenes and development servers, not actual game footage. Don't read too much into what you see

what would be the point? patrol areas are ghost towns, so I doubt this would be anything more than a useless feature

Personally, I think 6 men should be the default, but I'm down for this. Signature
