question about grenades

lore wise, is there any real reason why grenades have a recharge time? HOW do they recharge? obviously you don't just pick them up. and before anyone says "it's just a game" or anything like that, YES I KNOW. I'm just curious if there's a reason anyone has come across (or if you have an explanation of your own) or if it's just a thing. I was also wondering if anyone knows why certain armor gives you certain perks? for example how can a pair of gauntlets give you an extra grenade, is there something about the "exotic" part of it that gives you extra light or something? LASTLY are your bullets just energy? the little ammo boxes look like they're just filled with energy which is converted into bullets. I'm curious, leave your thoughts below

  • It's totally space magic. The flavour text for a crucible grenade Bounty says something like, "I don't know who the guardian who first learned detonate his light was, but I'd love to shake his hand." When you chuck a grenade, you're literally throwing an explosive hunk of light so you need minute to recover.

  • I postulate that all guardians are just hard light constructs of code created by the ghosts. Making us the players the travelers light

  • Okay first the ammo cubes are glimmer Glimmer can or could be made in to almost anything. Your ghost is your backpack It is also the catalyst for all your abilities Your conduit to the light your the one who decides what that light becomes. Exotics allow you to alter the basic abilities in to offer things or store extra skill perks.

  • Our Ghost acts like a mold for our Light(explains perks like kills with grenades increase melee charge, it's just Light being recycled, as well as Radiance produces abilities so fast, it's releasing all the Light that was built up) So grenades are created through the Light we produce. Exotic perks are just modifications made by either a weapon foundry or the previous owner, except Ahamkara armor. Those perks stem from the Ahamkara's powerful psychic abilities still persisting in their bones. But bullets are either in engram form, or are a representation of materials that the Ghost can produce into Bullets

  • Scientifically the grenades, just like your ghost it materializes but it is delayed and requires glimmer to speed up.

  • Where do our weapons go when we swap weapons? Ghost says he lives in our backpack, but there is no backpack (that we can see, at least). For a backpack to carry 2 rifles (auto, pulse, or scout, and a sniper rifle), and a rocket launcher, plus all of our mats... That would be a fairly noticeable backpack. I guess things just materialize when we need them. If that's the case, then that would explain the grenades recharging. We have to wait for them to be recreated.

    • If you consider the design of hand cannons, which are constructed like revolvers, but reloaded with cartridges, one could assume that grenades, much like hand cannons, are infused with energy from the character's light, much like Sugar said before me. As for exotics perks, same rules apply. Simplest answer I could come up with.

      • Lore wise, no. Game balance wise, its a huge problem if players can spam grenades every 0.1s

          • I like to think grenades are constructed through our light, so it takes a little time to regenerate them. As for exotics, they could be light catalysts the improve our abilities.
