The Taken King Exotic Weapon and Armor Lore Page 1

Hello and welcom Guardians this is your friendly neighborhood AnonPig with an update on all the new exotics coming in TTK. This will cover simply what they are and any lore about them that i can uncover. I hope you enjoy. First, we have The First Curse. This will be our newest Exotic Hand Cannon
...is when death becomes an afterthought.”
Now… this is a massive stretch. But read it as one thing. “The First Curse is when death becomes an afterthought. This gun looks similar to our very own Last Word, which as we all know was last held by Shin Malphur in the duel with Dredgen Yor at Dwindellers Ridge. Could it be that Thorn didn’t kill...but corrupted? Or was it after he killed Dredgen the whispers entered his mind? Could this story continue on after Dwindlers Ridge? Moving on we have Tlaloc, which had me squeal with delight! Tlaloc is a Mesoamerican deity, just like Queztocoatl -wink wink- to those who uh… remember my Ahamkara post. Tlaloc controlled rain, clouds, thunder, lightning, hurricanes, and mountain springs, as well as a host of lesser deities, known as the Tlaloques, who served as his attendants. But most intriguing about it is its final perk, it bears the Warlock insignia! Could this be a class exclusive? It’s name plays into the Stormcaller class…. so i wouldn’t doubt it. The Zhalo Supercell is our next exotic, the name Zhalo has me curious, but little was found on it. Supercell however was much more known as it is a weather system producing severe thunderstorms and featuring rotating winds sustained by a prolonged updraft that may result in hail or tornadoes. This clearly plays into the direction of the gun as it’s flavor text reads
An upcycled torrent of righteous thunder
and it’s main perk is to “chain lightning when enemies are close together.” The Hereafter is our third Exotic Sniper and features a perk similar to Black Hammer (thank god) This weapons flavor text tells a story though.
Huddled at the mountain’s base, we had no choice but to beat our ploughshares into swords once more.
Now i may be from a small town, living off a bigger city, but i also grew up a bit on my grandparents farm (with the pigs hehe unrelated i swear) a ploughshare is the blade of a plough, so to beat them into swords…. what did these people fight? The Eliksni? It would make sense, but… “beat our ploughshares into swords once more” Seems whatever they fought...followed. With our own hands we forged the mighty Raze-Lighter, Dark-Drinker, and Bolt-Caster...now we must feed their flame, slake their thirst, and unleash their thunder respectively. Again we seem to be getting what may be class based Exotics, each corresponding with the respective element. Raze-Lighter to Sunbreaker and so on. Although the stream suggests different, as the Stormcaller had Raze-Lighter. The Jade Rabbit, which has a story all it’s own will be the new Sony exclusive Exotic. The story tells of Gods needing a potion to live forever, but the potion could only be made by one, that god thought it would be funny to give said potion to humans, and was removed from his place for doing so. The King of Gods then went down to earth to find someone else to do so, but humans were too crafty, so he went to the animals, he appeared as three men who were lost and hungry, begging for food. A monkey, a fox, and a rabbit, came out of the woods to their cry, then returned to seek out food for them. The monkey and the fox both came back successful, but the rabbit did not. Wanting to help still the rabbit leapt into a fire so that the men could eat him instead. That rabbit was brought back up to the heavens and taught how to make the potion. Later in life it was tricked into giving one god two potions, and was punished by being sent to the Moon to work in exile. Looking at the flavor text
What kind of harebrained scheme have you got in mind this time?
we see a little joke about it. And we continue to another Scout Rifle, what was once the 347 Vesta Dynasty (telling the tale of what may have been Charlamange’s Vault) is now the Boolean Gemini. Going to Highschool for Electronics and getting trained in programming/engineering instantly made my ears prick up when i saw Boolean, then i laughed when is saw Gemini. Being one of those horoscope losers as well finally paid off. This gun has the flavor text
Fight your way!
Drawing reference to the two choice perks “one way” and ‘or another” some of you may see the humor in this gun now, Boolean is a binary variable having two possible values called “true” and “false” while Gemini in the zodiac is represented as Yin and Yang, and also the Twins. These two perks also feature opposites, one increases agility, while the other armor. The Fabian Strategy is what I’m expecting to be the Titan Exotic due to it’s final perk bearting the Six Fronts insignia. This gun also suggests a military strategy, The Fabian strategy is a military strategy where pitched battles and frontal assaults are avoided in favor of wearing down an opponent through a war of attrition and indirection. “...war if attrition and indirection.” Exactly what the flavor text proposes.
Wait for enemy to make a mistake. Die. Stand by for Ghost Resurection. Repeat as necessary.
And our last, and my favorite, the Ace of Spades. This gun features the Hunter Aspect of Blood insignia, so i believe it will be the Hunter Exotic. But also features spades… One of my favorite members of Lore also adores spades….and gambling on your life. Cayde-6, the Hunter Vanguard. Not to mention that this gun is just…. INSANE and very deserving of being Cayde’s. I’ve also theorized that Hawkmoon (featuring similar aspects of gambling) may have been his, but also that it may have been Andal’s which is why it’s available now. Cayde really looked up to him… Moving onto the armor… we have the first Titan exotic! Immolation Fists. Immolation is to offer in sacrifice; especially : to kill as a sacrificial victim, or to kill or destroy often by fire. This is shown in the flavor text
Don’t let this sacrifice be in vain
This Exotic really strengthens my theory on the Sunbreaker Titan origins, that they were the Vanir, and that the Aesir came in and moved them out of power, but I’ll get more into details on that later. Now we have the Thagomizers! A thagomizer is the distinctive arrangement of four to ten spikes on the tails of stegosaurid dinosaurs. These spikes are believed to have been a defensive measure against predators, but in Destiny they recharge Fist of Havoc by killing with Storm Fist, and Storm Fist by killing with Fist of Havoc. I suggest you listen to the flavor text.
Don’t get too close
Moving on we see the Skyburners Annex, for those who don’t know the Skyburners are an elite group of Cabal which aren’t directly seen in year one, but are in the new Shield Brothers strike. This is literally one of their helmets, as the flavor texts suggests, we take it after killing them… in Taken form.
To die twice in a strange land: first by Oryx’s hand, then by yours.
And on to the Graviton Forfeit. This beautiful Hunter helmet introduces a new Lore figure, Tevis
”Doesn’t matter how good you are - you stay out there too long, you’re not coming back. Not the same way you left, anyway.” - Tevis
First and most obvious impressions? He’s our Nightstalker Hermit, and my new best friend. HAHAHAHAHAH uhm…. our next… Titan helmet… the Taikonaut, is literally a space helmet. That thing is just beautiful.
The helmets worn by the first Chinese lunar colonist of the Golden Age
For those who don’t know, Oceans of Storm (where we play on the moon) was colonized by them. The Twilight Garrison is a City armor piece, shown by the insignia that dons banners around the Tower that is also on the chest. Also, it speaks of a better time, while remembering a darker past.
One day the Last City will be known as the First City.
Looking closely at the armor we see several little thrusters? under the ribs and across the shoulder, comparing that to the perk “Tactical Air Support” which lets you evade while airborne, it seems that’s exactly what they are. The newest Hunter boots haven’t dethroned Bones of Eao, and they’re a little short on lore too. Frost-EE5.
”Hey, if it works for computers…” - Marcus Ren
EE5 is a computer...thing. Honestly not where my knowledge is, but even beyond that… it’s really empty. Marcus Ren seems like a fictional character, likely a Golden Age scientist. The Warlocks are becoming more reptile with the Ophidian Aspect, and the jokes continue. Ophidian means a reptile of the group Ophidia; a snake. and with such lovely flavor text, before reading how about holding your tongue while saying “aspect”
Have I the aspic in my lips?
It seems the Warlocks have delved into another dark area for an Exotic, the Impossible Machines.
”The dead come for these, but the dead should not have them.” - Crumpled note pinned in the clasp
It’s a worrying flavor text...but there’s not much to go on from there. Are your spidey senses tingling? Well put on that ATS/8 Tarantella and they will be. This new Hunter Chest piece watches your surroundings, and sends tiny jolts of electricity throughout your body to cause muscle spasms that help you evade. In doing so it also recharges your grenades and Arc Blade quicker. The Warlocks are getting another unique helmet… The Stag, and again… it’s just nothing but jokes with them. featuring the physical head of a deer….
Oh, deer goodness!
and of course, the perk… “Doe or Die” AnonPig’s Theories Archived next page
