The Fall of Hunters

Today I was planning on doing a second run of trials, so obviously this meant I would be playing on my hunter rather than my Titan (I do have a warlock but I prefer to not resort to the OP class straight away, more of that later). Anyhow, I began to practise on my hunter, unfortunately my Nightstalkers wasn't levelled enough so I decided to play on my bladedancer, one of the (former) most enjoyable subclasses. While I have had problems with the subclass and it's utility in the past weeks, never has it been rose to my attention more than now. I want to start by addressing the jumps. While I do know that they can be good if you master them, I think they are too clumsy. Being a titan, I know how easy it is to titan skate, and how easy it is to glide at Mach speed as a warlock. Yet with the regular jump on hunter, it is so floaty and then blink... well - the fact that it absolutely obliterates my recovery stat and is so much less versatile than every other jump just makes it seem shameful next to other jumps. Playing with these jumps just made me feel way too restricted to be playing against titans and warlocks. Then there's the super, which is just a glowing problem in my eyes. This is especially apparent when short-stopping is more prevalent then ever; I have to attempt to charge someone while they shoot me, then I swipe at them, short stop and they melee/shotgun, which is especially abundant when it's a warlock with incredible melee range. Hit detection and tracking is even lacking, which just makes bladedancer look like a store brand stormtrance, since stormtrance hits without lunging, it can't miss and it's done from range - they even get a superior blink that can be spammed to all hell. This made me think about gunslingers as well. I won't go in to too much detail, but they do have a plethora of issues. •Super - Easily avoided by hiding around corners, doesn't get extra armour which makes it extremely vulnerable (asking for more armour may be too much but I just think it does make it unfair) •Grenades- Incendiaries were nerfed so well placed ones can no longer on hit, tripmines can NEVER one hit now while lightning grenades tick for 488 damage, and swarm grenades... •Stats- (goes for bladedancer as well) The fact that titans and warlocks can have really good armour with really good recovery while hunters are basically only allowed to have one good stat baffles me, agility isn't even that good! Warlocks get their health back in a few seconds while having high armour or agility while I'm struggling to get my health back for years, but hey! At least I can jump a little higher for fun while I die. Ultimately, I just think hunters need to be address once again, so they actually seem like they're on the same tier as other classes, nightstalker is basically perfect, yet bladedancer and gunslinger is still lacking. • I think you just need to explore the class and get better with it. Go to youtube and you can watch multiple high level youtubers rocking hunters, YES HUNTERS, and kicking ass with them. Plus I never hear them state bad stats, bad supers, or being in general a bad class. High level players tend to play best of the best, notice that they almost all play hunter in crucible/trials. Hunter are badass at pvp and incredibly viable as a whole when it comes to pvp.

      • I like this post. I too feel like the Nightstalker is in a good place right now especially now that shade step has a longer cool down. But gunslinger and blade dancer should be buffed up a bit. I main a golden gun because the perks fit my play style and I do feel the lack of usefulness between some of those perks which would be mostly trip mine. I wouldn't mind the Hunter class to be buffed In certain areas for sure.

      • Warlocks in no way are faster than a hunter or titan. They are the slowest class. Their melee is half a -blam!-ing metre larger. Try taking one -blam!-ing step forward. Stormtrance takes 3 ticks of damage to kill, as opposed to bladedancers insta kill and it's "far superior blink" takes up super energy, can only be used in super, and doesn't travel nearly as far as the other blinks. The more you know

I main a hunter BECAUSE of how the jumps work. That is one thing that never should change: it's fast, agile, and rewards a skilled player with amazing in-air control, especially when using Bones of Eao. Yeah, DNFW that.

          • Honestly, what I hated about all of the nerfs of hunters the most was taking tripmine sticking out. I mean what is the point of doing it in the first place because if you throw a tripmine at someone it just bounces off of them and rarely ever hits them once that happens. That little change just really got on my nerves
