Make Raid Weapons Special Again

With a random perk, the King's Fall weapons don't feel as good as the old raid weapons. I wouldn't mind having elements back either. These weapons should be unique. Grinding the raid for better perks also feels less fun than hunting a weapon with a lower drop rate, but guaranteed to have good perks and feel special. This idea of hunting something like fatebringer or Vex made it more satisfying once I found it. Sometimes it had a fun exclusive perk that made it more special ex. Black Hammer. In year one, you rarely heard of a "bad" raid weapon. This hunt always kept the community hyped. I think we should have that back. I miss having someone see me with a raid weapon and just thinking "wow how did you get that?" Most King's Fall weapons are only glorified vendor weapons. The elements could also apply to the adept weapons. Make endgame weapons great again! • Agreed. Even POE weapons could have been good if it weren't for that shank burn.

  • Raid weapons have always been a cornerstone of the endgame loot in Destiny. A lot of players have said they were not as excited about the Raid weapons in King's Fall, except Qullim's Terminus, it's a beast. We will definitely take this feedback into consideration for future Raid rewards. Thanks for sharing your opinions.

    • Taken damage bonus AND cocoon should have been standard perks before any of the regular perks kicked in. Except these two perks and the unique design there is nothing special about the raid weaponry at all. Nothing to combat Taken Captain blasts, nothing to destroy Taken Vandal bubbles, nothing to make Taken Minotaurs visible, nothing to combat blights etc etc. Raid weaponry should be great but it also should factor in the enemy force it is designed to battle.

Let's go thru it: Vog Fatebringer - arc, outlaw, firefly (you all know it, next) Vision - solar, full auto, amazing stability, 27 mag size pre-nerf (it never stopped firing, my fave scout rifle even today) Praydths timepiece - arc, very similar to the currently popular grasp, shoots very fast with decent perks, still good in pvp Atheons epilogue - void, similar to hakkons/soulstealers, bullet hose, decent in pvp, weakest of vog gear imo Found verdict - arc, dethroned by felwinters/matador/party crasher/conspiracy it's still a solid shotgun and an amazing one in Y1 PoE, it was able to blast back captains who were charging you Pratorian foil - solar, excellent range and stability, unique perks like reactive reload and glass half full, overall a good fusion for pvp, if you can get one to drop that is Praydths revenge - void, field scout, feeding frenzy, rapid fire sniper that most people double body shot with, good for pvp, though the 6 round mag is gone (it got me 2/3 thorns) Hezen vengeance - solar, no tracking or horseshoes but good blast radius and velocity with cluster bombs to add more damage. Corrective measure - void, excellent machine gun, an amazing scope, good stability and high RoF, it tears thru enemies in pvp, field scout gives exra bullets (used to give 150 rounds total) So vog gear is good because of how it's perk setup work in tandem and it's usefulness in pvp Crota Oversoul edict - arc, full auto, grasp copies it however it lacks the stability perks grasp can roll, main perks let's you go thru hive knight shields Fang of ir yut - arc, spray and play, perfect balance or field scout, good for arc burn bosses in PoE that fatebringer can't reach (think the servitor) with spray and play for fast reload after firing nonstop at the boss Word of crota - void, hammer forged, phantom gift (triple tap), good for void burn PoE/nightfall, still a decent hand cannon in pvp Abyss defiant - solar, focused fire, blinds wizards for a short time, solar burns thier shields Light of the abyss - arc, crowd control, quick charge time and decent damage it can be worked into a pvp loadout Swordbreaker - void, hammer forged, good shotgun for blasting away the swordbearer and other knights in crota end, outside that and void burn PoE it's pretty useless Black hammer -solar, reworked into black spindle the hammers original perk has no equal, you all know this gun, it's amazing and boss killing pve Song of ir yut - arc, huge mag, horrible stats, not great on stability or impact, tears thru knight shields Hunger of crota - solar, tracking cluster bombs, good pve rocket, a legendary version of gally Crotas end has some hits and some misses, the main perks on some guns are very situational, however all are unique in some way Then we have kings fall, I won't go into each one, they've all got cocoon which is good though abit situational, and a randomly chosen perk from the pool of them like any other rng gun, they have no special perk that makes them, well, special. Will of light, Cocoon and a random perk Vs Oracle disrupter, set good perk, set good perk Hive bane, set good perk, set unique perk

All they had to do was at LEAST make the KF raid weapons on par with some of the best legendary weapons out there, performance wise and power wise and they might be a little more than infusion fodder. If you're not going to give the weapons special perks that enhance their performance in the raid, at least make the damn things worth a shit and compete with some of the vendor weapons, or other legendary weapons found outside of the raid. The only thing the KF raid weapons have going for them is they actually look like alien weapons. The quillims and smite of merain are pretty good, but they nerfed the quillims, and the smite could use a tad more stability. I heard they nerfed the yasmin too somehow, so I guess in the end it don't matter if they made them good or not, bungie would just go F8ck them up anyway.

        • I thoroughly agree. Though I do love my Smite of Merain with Firefly, so much fun. The Year 2 Raid weapons are indeed lacklustre at best. I think the trouble comes when you try to make these Raid Weapons unique without rendering all other weapons in the game obsolete due to there vast superiority in all situations. That was the one thing I did not like about Y1 raid weapns; the lack of weapon variety both in PvE and PvP, but at the same time I miss the unique feel in Y2. I think it is trying to get that balance that proves difficult.

            • Volt of glass Raid weapons will always be the best. We need really great Raid weapons like that for Rise Of Iron. Seriously. Cause i only do Kings Fall to get weapons to Infuse with. With the exception for the Machine Gun. That sucks, is that what Bungie was Striving for? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no....probably not.

            • Bungie says: "NO!" But seriously, I think the reason would probably be that they don't want the weapons to be too good because if a PvE player uses them in Crucible to get a bunch of kills, then the Crucible only players would kick up a brown storm about not being able to get the weapons because they don't play PvE. (Let's face it, Bungie favour PvP players). And the last thing Destiny needs is another round of (PvE destroying) nerfs. I don't play PvP very much, and it irks me somewhat that I will never get an Eysaluna to play with, or any of the other Crucible only weapons (I don't play enough to know any others sorry). So it's only natural that a PvP player would get irked about PvE weapons they will never get.

            • Something I think makes sense about Destiny is the grinding mechanic. Now before someone rips my digital ass a new one, check this out. At it's core Destiny is a MMO RPG. And what are those kind of games known for with loot and level? Grinding, right? So don't go too salty on me for saying so. :)

              • I want raid weapons to be like how VoG did it. Several weapons that were just awesome looking and awesome to use, then the one super special weapon reminiscent of the raid boss - e.g Atheon and the Vex Mythoclast. None of the other vog weapons looked like vex tech at all, only the mythoclast did.

                    • Hoo boy, prepare for a rant! I always hear the argument against elemental raid weapons like "it made it those weapons being the only thing ppl used!". Whether that be because of the elements or because of the awesome perks, doesn't matter... They are ENDGAME weapons, they aren't something you can buy from the vanguard or get from an engram. These are weapons where you have to go through the most difficult activities to earn. So what if some people view them as the be all end all? Isn't that the point? To make our guardians more powerful and "become legend"? Why go through the hardest trials if you have nothing worthwhile to show for it? I had my Vex Mythoclast for all of 10 minutes before they decided they weren't gonna make year 1 weapons viable in year 2... Ya, thanks Bungie/RNG, I feel SUPER rewarded for all my hard work... Half the reason people were upset that the old raid weapons weren't brought forward was because the new endgame weapons were complete crap in comparison. In PVE it shouldn't matter, we should be able to use whatever guns work best for us to tackle the task at hand. Yes there should be new weapons, but you have to make new weapons interesting and make people WANT to get those weapons. Kings Fall I could care less about... In fact, every new "endgame" weapon has been pretty lacking since HoW (shank/dreg burn weapons? really?). I have a solution for everyone's problem, I've said this plenty of times before and I feel like it's an excellent solution to making weapons feel better across the board while making guardians feel more unique, so listen up! Elemental Cores: Just add elemental cores as a drop/consumable to add to a weapon. Just like chroma is now, put on a toggle. Want a different element? Then you have to destroy your current element and spend glimmer to try and get the one you want. guns are immediately more customizable, personalized and are now a viable option to planning your loadout for different combat situations. Everyone can get it and put it on any weapon they want which will do wonders for players in PvE (since elements don't matter in PvP). Then ppl can stop complaining about how elemental weapons would be picked over everything else... Which, no one is forcing you to pick one weapon over another anyway. Then old raid weapons could be brought forward without impacting much. Reroll/Reforge: Don't like that old raid weapons have awesome perks? Don't like that new raid weapons don't have awesome perks? Don't like that you can't get that one roll on the Imago Loop for the best perks? Why not a Reforge consumable? A rewarded item that lets you re-roll the perks/element on a weapon once. Also, why not have Reroll on drop? Once you find an endgame reward why not have the option to reroll it once it drops if you don't like the perks? You know... So you don't have to have grind an activity 30 times to be lucky enough to get the weapon you want WITH the roll you want... This would again help players customize their weapons to their playstyle. Both these things give people reasons to keep playing the game, and makes their guardian feel more "special" and powerful. On a side note, transmogrification needs to be a thing for old armor sets... I don't care about stats/perks on old armor or whatever, i'll wear new stuff, i just want the look of my old VoG/Crota gear so I can play Fashion Destiny. TL;DR, elemental cores for guns (like chroma), reforge (consumable drop)/reroll for weapons (on drop), and transmog is cool too.

                      • VOG and Crota had great weapons. HOW and KF have worthless weapons. Neat to look at but utterly useless outside the raid. I still run the raid but dismantle everything I get now without even looking at it. I miss the specialness of a raid weapon and the elemental burns. HOW was the absolute worst weapons. Except for maybe the lord of wolves, that was pretty good. the rest were suicide guns. The designers defiantly need to put some things in the next raid that make them the holy grail type weapons of raiding. Just getting a scout, auto or pulse with nothing special to it will just seem like the game designers got lazy and out of touch with the players.

                        • It's not only the random perks or the missing elemental damage on primaries. The worst thing about the KF raid weapons is their terrible handling IMO. Also, cocoon should be an additional perk and not take away a regular perk slot.

                          # 1 make exotic guns far better than legendaries #2 make exotic guns far better than legendaries #3......... Quit nerfing my guns... Better yet, Dont release a gun into the community until you have it right on YOUR SIDE bungie. We're not getting paid to test your mechanics. So please, just, yeah. #4 I really like Destiny so for the love of God do these things and happiness will happen. Because right now, nothing is really THAT SPECIAL about any gun...I can basically sub out any exotic for any blue or any legendary and achieve roughly the same KD. How is that not an issue?? Why do I grind for the touch of malice when it's no better than anything else? #5 I really like Destiny, thank you for making it.

One of the major reasons the raid was of no interest to me in TKK. The weapons in VoG and CE felt special and provided solid, dynamic and fun attributes which proved to be useful both in and out of the raids. Apparently I'm in the minority but I would run many loadsouts in Year 1, even within the raid to maximize speed, damage etc. Running around with FB, BH & GH was never something I did. In TKK any weapon will do as long as the light level is high enough and perks have honestly taken a back bench. The desire and even need to grind for a specific weapon with unique qualities doesn't seem to be a priority in Year 2. I expect PVP may be a little different, as specific perks may give a solid advantage but PVE at least is m'eh.
