To people who think Doom multiplayer is unbalanced......
In case you can't see the picture, it's a loading screen tip that says, "All weapons are not created equal; switching weapons or enabling the weapon modifier is encouraged."
There's a little message for you! In games like CoD and Battlefield, you might get used to being able to use long range weapons up close and take out other people consistently, but that's not how it works here! 🙅 If you're using something like the assault rifle or vortex rifle when someone's in your face.... you're going to have a bad time, and it's totally your fault. You've got to switch it up. In my 4 loadouts I use, I make sure to have a weapon that works best when enemies are far(ish) away, and I make sure to have something that works up close. All of my classes have a super shotgun, but the 2nd weapon changes from a rocket launcher, to the hellshot and to the chaingun. In small maps, I'm pretty nasty and use both shotguns 😛 You've got to switch your weapons a lot. With most of the kills I get, I switch my weapons 1, 2 or even 3 times. It's all about judging the range and what's best! I'll usually start out with my rocket launcher, and when I take a shot at them with that, I should be moving closer so I get in range with my shotgun. Then if because of our movement we separate for a second and become out of range for my shotgun, I take out my rocket again. I pretty much repeat that until I get the kill or die trying. Also, switching weapons is faster than waiting to be able to shoot a second time with the shotgun. So usually, even if we're close and I might damage myself, I'll still take out my rocket launcher after shooting with my shotgun, because I could shoot that quicker than another shot with my shotgun! That's why I sometimes use 2 shotguns. So I can shotgun all the time and not have to wait! "Not all weapons are created equal." So, there's better weapons for different situations... And surprise surprise, shotguns are good up close! If you're too stubborn not to equip something that can compete when close to your enemy, that's your problem, not the game's..... 😒

 • Well you said it yourself no matter what your loadouts includes the super shotgun... Hmmm I agree you should be switching weapons and never rely on a single weapon in a game like doom but in my (very) limited experience with the multiplayer and from what your own thread mentioned no matter the map one should always have an old trusty super shotgun to fall back on. My issue is with ranged weapons they do not do enough damage fast enough, especially with the map layouts and movement speed where it is so easy to duck away. I haven't played a ton of the full game sober at least (lots of beta play tho)
