This is a problem I noticed at the day this website was released but I haven't pointed it out since it really haven't bothered me that much (it's of course possible that this has been pointed out before since it's been a while since this site launched) due to me usually having a monitor with 1600*1200 resolution. At the moment I'm sitting on a old laptop that I found on the attic. It has a maximum screen-size of 640*480 and needless to say that it's a pain in the a** to use it since you very often have to scroll horizontally. But now on the real problem.
With Mozilla Firefox and Bungie.net you can't use your scroll-wheel on your mouse. It works fine in Internet Explorer but for some reason it refuses to work when you are using Mozilla Firefox. This is not a problem with my software/hardware on this computer since I've tried to browse Bungie.net with a number of different computers. As stated above it's normally not a big problem if you have a decent monitor and graphics card but for the "little people" using Firefox it might be very annoying.

I could never go back to using 800*600. My motto is: the more that fits on your screen the better. (I leave out the fact that I need to use a magnifying-glass to read the text due to the big resolution...hehe)
Posted by: Yolegoman I use FireFox also, and I would like to point out that it is possible to scroll if you semi-click a link on the forums... For instance, click "new topic", hold down your mouse button, drag it off the link, and your scroll wheel is active until you go to another page, where you must repeat. A pain, I know, but it's better than nothing.
Haha...Nice "hack". I agree with you, it's better than nothing.
Can you imagine trying to create websites at 600 x 480? That pretty much eliminates anything but, realistically, one column of text, with "previous" and "next" links at the bottom *shudder* - Yolego [Edited on 7/15/2004 8:31:02 PM]

Yeah I know that 640*480 isn't the best of resolutions but 800*600 ain't that good of a resolution to use either if you don't feel like scrolling until you are older than God. It seems like you've already researched the source of this problem and thus this topic has served it's purpose. My reason for pointing it out is that sometimes there are simple things such as tweaking the css that will solve a problem such as this one to work in all browsers. Thank you for your time!

It is a known issue in the Gecko rendering engine that is in Firefox. It is rather obscure though. As for the resolution - please be aware that this site requires a resolution of 800x600 or higher. anything less than that will make things look, uh, undesirable.
The reason for this topic was for the creators of this site to investigate the source of the problem and tweak it so it works with all browsers.
The problem is with the scrolling engine that Mozilla use for Firefox, according to Achronos. They could change the code, but then you wouldn't have the navigation bar stationary whilst scrolling. So just let Mozilla iron out the bugs.

Netscape and Firefox do not like multiple scroll bars (there is a hidden scroll bar that you cannot see usually), which is what is causing the issue. It is a sad side effect of making the site cross browser supported. Scrolling could be implemented, but it might break something that you might not want broken ; )

Great summary of my post =) I wasn't looking for a way for me to solve it. There are numberous stuff that work different between IE and FF but most of them can be fixed by tweaking the code. The reason for this topic was for the creators of this site to investigate the source of the problem and tweak it so it works with all browsers. [added] OMG! I think I'm going crazy. For a while after I made this post I could actually scroll. But when I looked at another site in my tabs and went back it went back to "normal" (not working) [Edited on 7/15/2004 8:41:36 AM]

It's a bug with Firefox.
