Exo Memories Ch.5: Dark and lonely

A new chapter is here! It took me a very long time to upload but the important thing is that it is here now. Please bump if you like, and tell me what you think. We had entered the walls of the Cosmodrome, as expected it was much deteriorated, I found myself waiting for the whole thing to collapse and squash us with our screams of pain wandering the halls until they dissipated into nothingness. “Don’t worry Omicron, maybe it isn’t as luxurious as you could have imagined but from what I can gather, the infrastructure is still fairly solid so the chances it will drop on us are very low…but just for safety we should hurry” said Hyperion looking around as if hoping some intelligent life as low as a bug would appear just to prove something was still alive. “Thank you for that observation Hyperion. Very comforting .” I said in a rather sarcastic way which Hyperion didn’t seem to notice or bothered to respond from what I could tell. For a Ghost that could understand an alien console he didn’t seem to have a clear idea on sarcasm. We kept going deeper into the Cosmodrome, long corridors seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see, it didn’t help that we were surrounded by darkness, all that could guide us was Hyperion’s light, but it was no brighter than a ray of sunshine going through a slighty dirty window at sunset. My metal foot clanked against the steel floor of the Cosmodrome, the boots Hyperion had created for me where very thin, so much so that a little scratch and half of my foot would be exposed, thankfully I am a lightweight Exo model specifically design to move at a faster pace with quicker reflexes all of which enabled me to act more efficiently than my more violent counterparts. If it wasn’t for that I would have fallen into the cracked floor and structural weaknesses of the ancient wall. “Is there anyway to calculate how long before we arrive? I bet if I was remotely organic my legs would be killing me, but now I am just bored”. "Come on Omicron you have light merged into the deepest space of your thoughts and being, I doubt someone with those abilities would be complaining that we are going to a safe place. Then again this place is quite unnerving if I say so myself". We walked for what seemed to be hours, eventually we found ourselves in a place that contained a bunch of crates, intact crates, no ancient dust or ageless spiderwebs in them, it was as if someone just left them there. "Some of these have an alien language in them, someone must have brought them recently otherwise they would look as old and abandoned as everything else". "Doesn't matter, we cannot stay here all day wondering the why of everything in these place, we must get to the tower as soon as possible". "Okay calm down Hyperion we will get there, look here is a stairway that will lead us down" I said showing him our exit, "Are you really sure we want to go down? Cause I think we really want to go up". "I don't but this is the only way to go forward and unless you want to go all the way back to explore for another path, I suggest we go down". Hyperion decided not to respond as he knew we would go down anyways, the stairs were moldy but resistant enough, I descended into what seemed to be the emptiness of the Cosmodrome, but as I rested my foot in one of the steps the metal stair gave away, breaking into a handful of segments almost instantly. I panicked and tried to reach for the wall to grab anything that could possibly stop me from falling but to no avail. All I could see as I fell was the light of Hyperion looking down at me barely realizing what was happening. I could hear him shout at me "Try to concentrate and glide down! Just focus your light!". I reacted as fast as I could to what he told me, I closed my eyes and hoped that something would happen and unexpectedly save my life. Nothing. I tried, again and again and until it was far too late. I fell on my back against the frail platform, the impact was powerful enough to break it, finally I fell on a slimy, dark and soft substance. Inside my head alarms were going off, signals showing exclamation marks, sirens in my mind screaming louder and louder, I closed my eyes hoping that peace would eventually settle in me. After what seemed to be less than a second I could hear Hyperion's voice talking softly. "That must hurt, even for us machines. Do you want to stay here and contemplate a temporary death or shall we move along?". "If we are all alone in this forsaken place then why hurry? Besides this black substance is sticky enough that I don't think I can move anymore". "Yeah, well thats exactly my problem Omicron. I don't know if we are alone, I can't pick up any vital signs or even detect any heat signatures, we have gone so deep that we have no chance of communication with the outside". "Can you at least tell me what I fell on?". "Well it seems to be some sort of spore or fungus, for the sake of your inner machinery I would recommend you to get up and clean it off". The thought of the fungus clogging my inner systems with its nasty spores made me cringe, a mental image that I hope would stay that way. I stood up, rapidly shook off any piece of that fungus in me and continued walking into the dark. Hyperion's light could barely show us any of the path in front of us. I became paranoid and very alert, since we could not even think of trying to communicate wth anyone nearby we had become easy targets for anything to attack us, no sound could be heard which made everything all the more creepy. The calm before the storm was upon us. Chapter 0: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/153669639? Previous chapter: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/186920371?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1
