Loot Drops; some people love them, others hate them. But it's what drives this game and the players in it who grind for specific rolls on weapons like the Grasp of Malok and 1000 Yard Stare now that reforging was removed from the game. Since The Taken King (TTK) launched in September of 2015 I've been grinding Legendary Marks every week (it's April 13 when I'm posting this) for the past 8 months and spending them on Special Legendary Engrams from either Master Rahool or Ives to take my chances with RNG and get a new sniper. Some of you may have been doing the same thing and it seems perfectly normal for somebody to do with weak vendor guns in the TTK. But what you don't realize is that I have a severe case of horrible RNG. And before you fill your replies with something on the lines of "you don't deserve good loot" or "stop complaining" or anything of that sorts let me ask you this; if you went 8 months using the same sniper rifle in Trials of Osiris with not even one different rolled sniper would you be complaining? If you answered yes then maybe you see my point. The thing is, Bungie promised us loot that was something we didn't already have in the game. If that means that getting the same Long Far Gone fusion rifle 6 times in a row with slightly different perks is a gun that I "don't already have" then they need to explain some things. Alternatively, certain players seem to have more loot drops in general. Just take Popebear at Planet Destiny who has 10 or more 1000 Yard Stares while Holtzmann has just a few. Popebear also got more Iron Banner drops from the past 4 IB Tournaments. What part of that makes any sense to anybody? As of the April Update, people have been worried about a Pay-To-Win system with the Sterling Treasures but nobody questions whether or not we should be allowed to buy legendary marks. Instead of buying Reputation Boosters, why not offer something like 1000 or 1500 legendary marks for something like $7.50 to $12.50 (U.S. Dollars). And yes I realize that we're not even two days into the update and I'm complaining about loot from two packages that I ranked up that day but please explain to me why I haven't seen a sniper rifle drop for me in the span of 8 months. A second alternative is the one described in the video linked at the top by Planet Destiny and Holtzmann where players can set their Guardian to get more drops for a certain weapon type through a quest. This would increase the drops from packages, engrams, and end game rewards to favor a certain gun (in my case a sniper rifle). But if I really want to complain about RNG and loot drops let me begin. I'm a Year One, Day One game owner and player. I played the Beta in July on XBOX and got the game September 9, 2014. I've spent almost 25 days playing this game looking for new loot to increase my light or level. I never hit Level 30 before the Dark Below due to low loot drops in Vault of Glass. I hit Level 32 two weeks before The House of Wolves arrived on May 19, 2015. Hitting Level 34 was the most rewarding experience I had 2 weeks into HoW due to the way loot drops in both Trials of Osiris (ToO) and the instant boost to armor through Etheric Light from Prison of Elders (PoE). Out of all of the Raids, End Game PVP, and other loot, there are things my Guardian has never touched. I've done Vault of Glass (VoG) Hard Mode every week since January of 2015 and haven't gotten a Fatebringer, Found Verdict, Atheon's Epilogue, Praedyth's Timepiece, or Vex Mythoclast. I got Black Hammer one week before TTK came out. I've never gotten a Hunger of Crota. I got Gjallerhorn the last time Xur sold it before the TTK once it was nerfed. I recently got my second Praedyth's Revenge from running VoG Hard last weekend (April 10, 2016). I don't know if Bungie fixed RNG to make players come back every week who don't get anything or if I just have one of the worst cases of RNG and luck known to the Destiny Servers. I've watched two Fatebringers drop for my fireteam members on 9 different occasions during separate weeks. Maybe there's some kind of hidden code that makes certain guns drop on certain numbered weeks. As a Year One player I play for loot and an excellent PVP experience. Trials of Osiris is incredibly rewarding to me as a decently skilled sniper. My biggest source of loot in the game has been through Legendary Marks, Crucible Marks, Vanguard Marks, and Strange Coins. I went the entirety of the House of Wolves' Nightfalls without getting a single Exotic (not even a No Land Beyond, which nobody wanted). But I'll stop ranting for now. I'm not complaining because I want Bungie to hand me a free gun. I'm complaining because plenty of other players have never seen guns in the game. If this post gets me better RNG luck or persuades Bungie to sell Legendary Marks for money then great. I'll be the biggest buyer of them once they come out. When I get a new LDR 5001, Y-09 Longbow Synthesis, or 1000 Yard Stare that's different from the one I got 8 months ago for a quest I'll be the happiest player in Destiny but until then I'll be grinding RNG and yelling obscenities at Rahool, Ives, Shaxx, and Commander Zavala.
