changing platforms
i am currently playing of ps3 but am thinking of upgrading to ps4 does my character and dlc all carry over?

Your character will carry over as long as you use the same PSN account to login. As for DLC's, you'll need to buy the base game which will come with The Dark Below and House of Wolves though you will ALSO need to purchase The Taken King as well.
