Separating PvE and PvP in Destiny 2 (weapon/armor, buffs/nerfs, exotics,...)

Hey everyone, enough of all the nerfs/buffs that are toxicating the forums since the release of Destiny and lets get to the real issue of Destiny. As we all know, nerfs happening in PvP can devestate our PvE experience. But should that be the way? Should PvP nerfs affect PvE? NO! Absolutely NOT! You cannot compare PvE and PvP, they are two differnt monsters/worlds. I mean look at how much things were ruined because they a were a bit strong in PvP: -The Sunbreaker Subclass: as a Titan main who was enjoying the Sunbreaker in PvE more than in PvP find it very sad that the detructive power that we once had in PvE is taken from us just because it was a bit OP in PvP. Yes I was aware that pre patch SB was a bit OP and it needed a slight nerf but what about PvE? Was it also OP there? Could it one-shot Oryx? No, I don't think so. -The Arcblade Subclass: When the game was released this thing was like the Pre-patch Sunbreaker, it could wreck whole fireteams easily, it needed a slight nerf like the Sunbreaker in PvP. But at the same time the Arcblade was not that amazing in PvE to begin with but guess what? It was nerfed and it became even WORSE in PvE. -Autorifles: for the players who joined Destiny after the MAJOR AR nerf, yes they where usefull in PvE once, not kidding. I remember in my first VoG run I was running with a AR as a primary. Now they suck in PvE and even more in PvP. -Hand Cannons: Because of two OP exotic HC the whole weapon type was nerfed into the ground, before the 2.0 patch you could get easily headshots with HC now you need to "TAKE YOUR TIME" according to Bungie, AINT NOBODY GOT TIME TO TAKE THEIR TIME WHEN FIGTING ALIENS THAT CAN 1-SHOT YOU!! -The Godly Vex Mythoclast: This thing was a monster in PvE and PvP in it's prime, it was definitly OP in PvP and it definitly needed a nerf IN PVP! Even though it was good in PvE, it was not OP, not by a longshot. Not to mention that even after the first nerf, the gun received multiple nerfs over and over again making it useless both in PvP and PvE. Poor Vex... -Pocket Infinity: Damn this thing was a beast, it was an exotic Fusion rifle who could fire 8 round at the same time making it an ultimate DPS machine! It was ridiculous in PvP and needed a well deserved nerf. Again it was ruined in PvE and people barely used it, even on Solar burn modifiers I didnt see that gun being used which is very sad. - etc... I could go on and on and on...but my point is that you cannot compare PvP and PvE, something that is OP in PvP doesnt mean that it is OP in PvE aswell and vice versa. So my proposal is that in Destiny 2 Bungie needs to separate PvE and PvP from eachother meaning that nerf/buffs/changes/overal balancing should in PvP/PvE should not affect eachother. Imagine it, you could run around with powerfull armory, weapons, exotics in the PvE world without being worried that someday it will be nerfed into the ground because kids are crying on the forums. And Bungie can design guns/armor without worrying that it will be OP in crucible which is BTW why I think Kings Fall weapons suck so much because Bungie is holding back making it powerfull to prevent unbalanca in PvP. I think this change will make the franchise MUCH better, please like/share/bump this as much as possible. Thank you! -Solid Chrome out Edit 1: Or make it like this crowd control in pvp: lasts 3sec and gives 15% extra damage and in pve: lasts 6sec and gives 30% extra damage. Same perk but its downscaled for pvp. And they could do that for every perk, another example: rangefinder in pvp: gives 10% extra range and in pve: gives 20% extra range Shotpackage: pvp: bullet spread reduced by: 8% Pve: bullet spread reduced by 30% Etc. (Any ideas of your own? Comment below) And another thing that they can improve in Destiny 2 is that they put actually numbers on the perks, for example tell us how much rangefinder increases the range or how much crowd control increases the damage.

  • Thank God for your idea. I hope Bungie actually decides to read this thing at some point because it seems like the devs are walking into the same problem again at a larger scale, and seem to be nerfing & oversimplifying Destiny 2 for a simple & streamlined PvP in more aspects such as : grenade cooldowns, supers, class skill trees, & ability cooldowns. As it stands now, Destiny 2's current systems will probably drastically shorten the game's lifespan... unless it has actual meaningful surprises to keep players coming back outside of dlc.

  • Oh. Well I thought it was ring rust but genuinely, even after getting antiquated in PvE my Devil You Know has become antiquated in PvP as well. God I -blam!-ing hate you Bungie. Get Cancer and die.

  • Yep agreed. I'm no pvper, but only play the Iron Banner event BECAUSE it's unbalanced. Let the weapons and armor sets be the beasts they're supposed to be. Everyone has a personal strategy for a game type. I, for example, like to use the "Does Not Bow" AR with 300dmg in Iron Banner. Most people I play with/against doesn't use ars in the crucible, but for me it works; it doensn't need buffs or nerfs. Actually, that's the problem: balance. Just stop nerfing things and go back designing weapons that make me feel like I really changed since my revival. As it's now, it doesn't look like my character evolved much.

    • Only issue i see is people getting confused and frustrated. For example, you only use X gun. In pve it gets buffed so it shoots faster w more range. In PVP and PVE the gun will feel different and harder to use

    • This seems like a really good idea. A PvP and PvE sides to each weapon, armour and class perk would allow, for example, Sunbreakers to clear quite 9 or 10 PvE enemies with 3 or 4 well placed hammers (not aa much aiming needed) yet still only get 1 kill per hammer in PvP.

    • i hope in destinty 2 they will keep PVE separate from PVP. you can go to crucible/faction vendor to get PVP only armor/weapon and from vanguard/faction PVE only armor/weapon. Then do all the f....ing nerf you want to those weapons for the PVP part. Folloinwg PVP crybabies they made PVE worse then ever.

      • With the diversity of perks on this game I don't think pvp will ever be balanced until you can only use predetermined vanilla loadouts Then they could make perks that are acyilually idk... usefull!!! Seriously how long is crowd control active? And the buff is minimal at best. If they had seperate game modes they could make these guns much Better/fun

Completely separate PVP and PVE gear. PVE gear with PVE specific perks and PVP gear with specific PVP perks. Balacing/nerfing each gear tier wont affect the other. Same goes for weapons with the exception of exotics. Like this we could keep shot package for PVE while it wont be an option for the PVP gear perk rolls. PVE gear with enemy burns, elemental bonus damage and other helpfull perks for PVE. The PVP gear could offer bonus rep gains, rep gains for specific crucible modes, bonus coin gain perks for after battle loot, etc. Designers can go wild here. WE NEED MORE VARIETY IN THE GEAR AND ITS PERKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Transmong system plz! Dont we all have the one sexy pimp swag cape or bond in our Vaults that is year one and rare, but we cant wear it coz of the 20 defense value? My vault is full of them! Add that atleast to that cape and bond slot! Also make the artifacts visible while wearing them. Like the rabbits foot for the hunter? Wouldnt it be fukin cool to have that on the neck as a lucky charm necklace flying around while we jump around majestic as fk!!!

          • Honestly I agree with this a great deal, a combination of dead perks, perks that are brilliant for PVE/PVP and classes being extremely diverse means that simply nerfing/buffing something without separation ruins classes and weapons

            • Look at games like WoW. There are subclasses that excelled in pve but lacked in pvp, and subclasses that did great in pvp but lack in pve. I don't think that's what's wrong. I think there should be more pvp/pve specific items and perks.

            • I don't really think separation. What would be helpful though, another stat that made items and armor more desirable for PvP, and PvE. That way we still have the game as a whole, but people who enjoy PvP can get items that perform better for PvP, and PvE people can get items more suitable for PvE. At least that way if you enjoy both aspects of the game, you just have an item set for each game play type. Am I making sense?

            • Agree with the point you are making entirely. So do most of the knowledgable community. Planet destinys recent podcast tackles exactly this. However, your point re autos in pvp is not valid. They wreck in the right hands...

              • PvP and PvE in the same game. Jack of all trades. Master of none. A mutual separation would be beneficial to both. Those darn dregs are responsible for the gun nerfs. Hobgoblins don't complain.

PvP should only exist as an extension of PvE........... EVERY player in PvE should get the full glorious game and the ability to power up and expand their armour, weapons and abilites........but only through open gameplay, helping other guardians and pushing through the levelling/light system (strikes/raids/events together....... the actual basis of the original gameplan E3 2013 Separate stats and variables PvE is where the game and the future is, Bungie! Whilst in PvP, .......(not having the Crucible dictate the PvE player upgrade path)..... it should be solely about set loadouts and basic weapons.....totally separate locations.....with no capacity to earn ANY engrams and gain exotic/rare/legendary goods just because a group of people run the same gametype over and over allowing 'wins'.....or simply kicking the ass of anyone who steps in for the odd time.......just a separate PvP score ......so they can gloat about it to themselves......

                  • PvP ruins PVE all the time. There's only been a few PVE started nerfs, and from what I've seen, nobody asked for them.

                    • I've been saying this ever since the Vex was reduced to a shadow of what it used to be. Some people spent ages to get that gun, and being an exotic it should have been godly. Yet after the nerf I hardly touched mine as my VoC was so much better in every way. It's ridiculous that crucible matches, that don't really count for anything, can affect end game PvE so much.

                      • Honestly, as Bungie implements nerf after nerf, it's got me thinking that they would benefit greatly from first buffing things to a desirable degree in PvE, then scaling them to an appropriate amount for PvP, much like they supposedly did for the King Fall raid, where they created the Hard Mode first, then made adjustments for the Normal Mode. I would be happier if they could do it that way rather than making across-the-board buffs and nerfs that affect both sides when it was merely for the sake of balancing PvP. I've had enough of the nerfs. All they've really accomplished is destroy any semblance of power when using a weapon or subclass.

                      • I agree. Though I have one addition that this should be done so the gun handles the same in both environments. It won't make any sense if my fusion rifles charge twice as fast in PVE as in PVP, and frankly it will just make the gunplay too confusing.

                      • Okay, no. Just no. You can't make the weapons super different between game modes. Small changes in damage output? Sure. But entirely different perks, mag sizes, etc? Absolutely not. If nothing else it would just get confusing.
