Suggestion to stream line economy

This post is my ideas on how to make the economy in Destiny a little more managable, and hopefully fix a few other gripes I've heard about Destiny in the process. So right now we have Glimmer, Spinmetal, Helium Filaments, Spirit Bloom, Relic Iron, Wormspore, Hadium Flakes, Exotic Shards, Armor Materials, Weapon Parts, Strange Coins, Motes of Light, and Legendary Marks. That's 13 (THIRTEEN!) different currencies, not including radiant energy and radiant shards and anything else I may have forgotten, and most of them don't serve much of a purpose. My suggestion is to narrow this down to two main currencies: Legendary Marks and Motes of Light. Everything that takes Legendary Marks would basically stay as is. Everything else (almost) would change over to costing Motes of Light. The biggest targets would be equipment. Specifically, how you upgrade equipment. Instead of having to keep a hoard of Materials and Glimmer on hand to be able to unlock your newest upgrade on your gear, it would all be converted over to so many Motes of Light. But not only that, I would suggest we go further and change how increasing light level on gear works. Now, this next part is not mandatory for streamlining the economy, but I think it's an interesting idea on fixing how gearing works, since gear is the ultimate goal of having an economy in the first place. I would suggest that, once you have finished unlocking all of the upgrade nodes on a piece of gear, you can then begin upgrading the light (attack/defense) level of the gear just like you would unlock an upgrade. It takes a certain amount of xp, and then you can spend motes of light to increase the light level. And you can keep doing this until the piece of gear reaches max light level. This would allow you to take any piece of gear to max level and remove the reliance on RNG for progression, and instead reward you for your hard work in a perceivable manner. (As a side note, I would also suggest having a tiered level for gear, so blues cap at 300, Legendaries cap at 310, and Exotics cap at 320). But if we reduce everything down to Motes of Light, what do we do with all the extra materials in our inventories? I suggest we add a new feature to Xur, where every week he allows us to trade in 2 different types of materials (including Glimmer), chosen at random each week, for Motes of Light. I've heard a lot of people saying that Xur doesn't have much of a purpose in the game any more, and that people just use him as a 3 of Coins dispenser. This would instead have the effect of making him more like a pay day. Every weekend, players can take their hard earned materials and trade them in for a paycheck of Motes of Light which they can use to level up their gear. And because you never know what materials he'll be asking for each week, it gives players incentive to actually collect materials again. You would want to be sure to have a decent stockpile of everything, just in case. One week he'll be asking for Spinmetal and Glimmer, the next he could be asking for Weapon Parts and Hadium Flakes. He would still sell his regular inventory for Strange Coins. In short, this would funnel all 13+ materials into essentially 2 forms of currency and change the way gearing up works in a meaningful and hopefully more rewarding way, as well as make Xur a much more exciting event. Please leave your feedback and (constructive) criticism. I'd like to know if this is something that actually sounds like a positive change to other players.
