Fire Does Work in space

Ok, I must reply to the issue regarding explosions and fire in space. First we must define fire. Fire is the luminous state of gaseous particles that are excited by a thermal reaction to the point that they emit photons of light. Does this process work in space? Yes. We see the most obvious version of this in Stars. It is not the shiny metal being created in the cores of stars that is luminous. It's the hydrogen fusing and the plasma on the surface layers. So to say that explosions don't work in space is to deny the most obvious constant billows of flame that illuminate our sky. That said do ships explode in billows of fire? That all depends on the fuel NOT THE PRESENCE OF OXYGEN. Any plasma by definition is luminous and all reactors capable of producing the energy required to do anything claimed in the game will very likely produce or rely upon plasma to work - fusion reactors being a rudimentary example of such a reactor . That said, one can most certainly assume that any uncontrolled eruption or thermal venting of that fuel can create all manner of such effects and perhaps even more so. So... in defense of the authors of Sci fi all around... try to remember that just because you can not blow a can of gasoline into a billow of fire in space doesn't mean that such explosion are improbable. Furthermore considering the power requirements for such vehicles I'd wager that much worse things than explosions are both probable and just as spectacular when bad stuff happens. Now.... it is true that these explosions would produce extremely odd kinds of sound because a vacuum will do some rather odd things to the vibrations - for instance ramping Up the intensity of the shock wave significantly and shortening the length of the wave frequency thus dramatically heightening it's pitch to the ear (which incidentally would very likely rupture your eardrum if not create massive hemoraging). So... before we start criticizing the "science" or lack thereof... remember two points. 1. It's a game. 2. Know your science.
