Why decrease drop rate for something that doesn't need to be decreased?

I STRONGLY AGREE!

I agree.

I disagree

The decrease in weapon part/armor material's drop rate was completely uncalled for. As the old saying goes, "If it's not broken, don't fix it". And, that's exactly what you failed to do. You changed something that should have never been altered! Nobody in the community agrees with this secret change you did in the recent update. I've never heard anyone say, "Weapon parts drop too much, please decrease the drop rate!" Weapon Parts and Armor Materials have had the same drop rate since the alpha (which was a year and half ago). Why change the drop rate now? It makes no since, where is the logic in it? Why make it harder to obtain a petty item that is needed for everything? Are you going to sell us weapon parts in microtransactions? Are taking a turn for the worse? What are you people at Bungie doing to fix things that need fixing? Instead of making it more ridiculous to get much needed materials, how about you actually let us give you advice. I'm just not wanting to see my favorite game go into the ground because you have a couple of jack offs who thought it would be funny to make people blow away their precious hours they could spend with family and friends to farm for something so petty. What does the community think? Please vote, let Bungie see this post, let them know how we feel. Edit: Please upvote this post, get it trending. Bungie needs to see this! You used to be able to get green gear. Then do the bounties and daily, etc. to get exp to max out the experience on that gear. The when you dismantled it you got like 3-4 extra materials for the weapon or armor instead of 1-2. It gave you enough to get your upgrades done for the day. I loved that! That's a grind that makes sense! Now they increased the demand for armor materials (with infusing) and decreased the rate at which you get those materials... a little imbalanced??? Think about it in terms of real life. It's like getting a house, or a car, or a PC, or a paintball gun, or a guitar, etc. Fixing it up, repairing it, upgrading it, and then flipping it for more money. That's a process that's logical and rewarding. This new decreased drop rare for armor materials is just flat out boring. I'm missing a part of the game I loved. Sure you can still kinda do it with blues but it takes sooo much longer. So the return for the amount of work isn't really worth it. You used to be able upgrade multiple green items with a bounty or two. Now a full day of bounties only gets you half way through the first upgrade with 4 Blue pieces of unique upgraded armor equipped. That's 4 days of bounties to get them maxed out. To then only get 2-3 materials instead of 3-4. I guess motes can help too. But that's lame. I liked working the bounties to upgrade and make a profit. This is just lame.

    • Think of the weapon parts economy like this: In a normal economy, with normal money, imagine there are very few who rich, and everybody else is poor. It makes sense that we would want to make the very poor a bit richer so they can function normally. But with Bungie, imagine the weapon parts as money. The rich have many weapon parts and the poor have very few. In this economy, very few rich have many weapon parts. Most people, however, are starving. Now the Bungocratic government sees this, says "There are some people with too much money, so let's make money really hard to come by! Right! Right?"

      • As much as it sucks for chance on gear. If you do PoE. The year one weapons still drop 1-4 weapon parts. Not sure someone has already said this or not. Cheers.

                • Bump. Weapon parts are the only thing in the game that I consistently need. At least let us by them with legendary marks.

I have a quite simple fix... Trade armor materials For weapon parts in a 1 to 1 economy instead of 2 to 1 like their other shit. Sure charge a small glimmer fee I don't care but I have tons of extra armor materials and 0 weapon parts. Since there is that huge of an imbalance and you can trade everything else like coins for motes why not armor materials for weapon parts? Seems painfully obvious

                        • If bungie based the weapon part drops based on real life weapons then it would be better.

                        • Yea its pretty ridiculous. Unfortunately bungievision knows they can do things like this to make you grind more because they know people aren't going to quit and now people buying silver is gonna pay for the people who do quit. They hold all the cards and they know it

                        • Fine for normal destiny players like me~ Average around 20 per day. I don't waste them on weapons I just dismantle.

                        • Bungie needs to address Weapon Parts & their low drop rates. It would be nice if we could exchange Armor Materials for Weapon Parts at a 1:1 ratio & vice versa or possibly even buy them along with Armor Materials for an amount of Glimmer/Legendary Marks. If Legendary Marks was to be a solution it would have to be like 10 Legendary Marks for 100 Weapon Parts/Armor Materials because Weapon Parts/Armor Materials cannot be farmed like the other planet related materials. Armor Materials aren't a problem to get but being that there are only 3 slots for Weapon Engrams & 5 slots for Armor Engrams it's always more likely the case that you will get more Armor Engrams than Weapon Engrams. At the very least this difference between Armor & Weapon slots should be enough of an indicator that the number of Weapon Parts dropped per Weapon Engram decoded needs to be increased as opposed to the reduction which was done on a previous patch. With Weapon Forging out of the game my suggestions are definitely possible solutions to the Weapon Parts issue. Alot of the 'Fun' to Destiny is trying out all the weapons you come across which includes their differences in perks. I just don't like the feeling of keeping promising weapons in my Vault because I can't use them to their full effectiveness.

                        • It's all because some Ppl were using motes of light to rank up guns just to dismantle them and see a great return on their investment in the form of more weapon parts and motes of light. Still I don't think it was to the point of needing neef

                          • agree it was a pretty stupid nerf with no possible valid justification. they said in the nef announcement
Weapon Parts, specifically, have been particularly vexing. Some players use a LOT of Parts, whereas others use almost none. Still, we are very aware that this is a choke point for some players, and further adjustments may be in order.
players that use "a LOT", play alot, - players that use "almost none" probably don't. How can you justify taking away what you've pretty much admitted some players need by saying that other players have "more than needed" ? it's one of the few things that accommodate over 200 in a stack. who the F cares if the stack has 900 vs. 1300 in it?

                          • We want you to use a wider variety of weapons so we are getting rid of elemental primary weapons. We don't want you to level them up though so we are decreasing weapon parts drops.
