I run a Halo Info website, and like to give the Facts to my Friends on XBL.
According to this site BNet, you simply need a Copy of ODST to get a Beta Code.
However according to a Friend he found out from a Xbox.com Video that you need to Pre-Order the Game to get it.
So if anyone can supply a solid source that says which is correct, Thanks.

That would be interesting, but If they have it come out at the same time as another major Release, it would be a bit unfair. I dont think they would let you do that.
-
It would be awesome if Bungie released the beta on November 10th to take away from Modern Warfare 2. Although I don't think we'll get it until next spring/summer like the H3 beta.
Posted by: Yin o guns 117 Halo 3: ODST, what you get for each Edition: Any Edition = HALO REACH Mutiplayer Beta. Any Edition + Pre-order = Sgt. Johnson, playable in FIREFIGHT. ____________ So, what do we get from "Limited Edition" is there going, to be a Limited Edition?
LE comes with an ODST controller. And with the mythic maps, Halo 3: ODST ships with the same exact multiplayer as halo 3. It comes with every map ever made for Halo 3 including the new mythic map.

Just buy the game. On an ign video Joe Staten was showing the menu and said that access falls under the Extras' menu so you just need the game. The only pre order bonus is Johnson.

Thanks. Yea, Frefight is a Halo-Horde style Game mode in ODST. I believe I read somewhere on BNet (not forum) that we will get the rest of Mythic just with buying ODST, so thanks.

Check this link: http://www.bungie.net/projects/odst/features.aspx#beta It says you only have to buy the game. It also says that preordering ODST will get you the ability to play as Agt. Johnson in "Firefight" (what I assume to be a game mode in ODST). Since they have a preorder bonus section, I think it's safe to say that the Reach beta has no association with preordering ODST.

This article tells some information at the end for Halo: Reach, but doesn't exactly state if Halo 3: ODST must be pre-order, or bought simply new on the release day.
