The signature perk I believe to be somewhat broken in its current state. It infuses your subclass element to the weapon for "a period" but from my experience it NEVER switches back unless you unequip the weapon, die, or go to orbit.
This has to be a mistake because it takes away from what the real selling point of that perk should be, and that is to have access to multiple damage types on the fly.
Generally you equip secondary and heavy weapons of burn type other than your subclass to have diversity, yet this perk takes that option away from you. It's a nice weapon, but I believe the perk is either not functioning as it should, or was poorly designed.
My suggestion is that the infusion of your damage type should last ~30 seconds so you can activate it, but still not completely alter the gun from its original state for such an extended period. I expected the perk to pop up on the side of my screen as all of the new weapon perks do (LOVE this btw, great job Bungie), but alas, nothing.
Please help us!
FYI: Susanoo is a Warlock specific fusion rifle you get from Rank 2 Gunsmith quest chain.
Clarification of Susanoo perk wording: "Causing damage with subclass abilities will transfuse that damage type to this weapon for a period of time" .. so as I stated above, it would be nice if that "period" was a little more clear and seems like many people agree so far that we don't want it to last as long as it does currently.
Favorite Comment Suggestion: Susanoo should always return to its base damage type (Solar) upon reloading the weapon. Keeps the signature perk very useful since Warlocks should generally always be using their grenades or melee skills in battle, while also giving the option to get it back to Solar relatively quickly and easily without opening the character menu.
EXAMPLE WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT: Fighting Taken Centurion (Arc shield); Transfuse Susanoo via grenade throw; Kill Centurion. Suddenly see Taken Captain (Solar shield); Reload Susanoo returning it to Solar; Kill Captain without transfusing Susanoo. No opening the menu mid-battle in order to change your damage type back. This also would be accomplished if the transfuse perk only lasted a period defined by a perk timer on our screen, but I'm open to any type of fix.

Susanoo allows me to access all three types depending on my subclass. I find this particularly useful for burns. If I had to keep damaging the enemy with my abilities to keep it the type I need it to be it would be less effective for me. I want it to stay the way it is. Death is cheap anyway.

It's fine stop complaining

I think you're missing the point of the perk. It was designed with Nightfalls in mind, specifically ones with burns so that you don't need to carry three different types of fusion rifle for each element type. I think in that instance it's working as intended and seems to fit perfectly, in my opinion, and therefore shouldn't be shortened.

I like this :
Favorite Comment Suggestion: Susanoo should always return to its base damage type (Solar) upon reloading the weapon. Either far fewer people have this than I expected, or nobody sees this issue the way I do??
-
Try using Fabian strategy. That things broke.

I thought it worked as intended. But would prefer it to be temporary if this was intended to be temporary. I also noticed that when the element switches to Arc, and you get kills while it is dealing Arc damage it doesn't count as Arc kills for the bounty "30 Kills with an Arc Weapon".

I like the Susanoo the way it is. It's actually one of my favorite guns right now. I'm OK with modified burn lasting awhile (a couple of minutes) but a countdown would be nice unless it does indeed do both damage types. I will have to look at that since I usually base my class on the type of burn I'll need. Good way to test: Nightfall this week is solar only. Run susanoo with arc or void and see if it still wrecks.

Would be cool if it switched back when switching weapons!

BUMP for FIX

Edited by Venix: 10/2/2015 9:23:06 PMI think we should all agree at this point that Susanoo is broken or bungie is terrible at wording. I think the timer for the reset is what we really need to discuss in this post. It would work great at 30 seconds before switching back to fire, but I also believe a short amount of time would also be a lot of fun. Having just enough time to take out an overshield on one or two enemies would also enable more build diversity and thinking while playing. I think we really have 2 options here we either go with enough time to get out 4 shots before it switches back or enough time to possibly clear a room of enemies before it goes back to fire. For me I will vote for the short timer EDIT: just read the part about switching back to fire after a reload. This is a great idea as it gives us control over the weapon, but I'm open for anything as long as Susanoo does not stay as is.

Bump Switching weapons, when reloading, on a timer. All better options.

You are aware what transfusion means right it doesn't mean replace it but add that element on top of (cuts both shield types down really fast even thou the writing isn't orangey-red)
-
Leave it alone. You do not understand the damage you are causing.
-
No I love the way it is right now, my favorite weapon. Arc or die
-
Are you aware it still does solar damage on top of its infusion??
-
Bump I thought it was super strange it didn't go back within a minute. Literally the only fusion rifle I like in this game as the stability is nuts
-
It does switch back but it holds the element for quite some time, a couple minutes actually
-
Not sure if I agree or not since the period of time last about 10 min
-
I think it should switch back to solar after 60 seconds instead of 10 minutes
-
I agree
-
It should change back when you reload. Letting you decide if you want it back to solar or not.

Bump!
