•
Posted by: SwampWTFox Hey, so I saw your long-winded post on the forums. I understand what you're saying about getting your credits "revoked" between online and offline play, but your complaints apply in the reverse direction too. For instance, I play alot of online multiplayer, it's what I love about Halo. I like being able to show off how dedicated I am to the game, how good I've gotten, by having different armor than all the regular Joes out there. That satisfaction is completely destroyed if someone can get the same armor as me playing some stupid custom firefight variant over and over again. That being said, what I'm guessing Bungie is planning to do is reduce the amount of credits earned if you play online matchmaking or custom games. Yes, your credits are going to be less than they might be if you don't play xbox live at all, but that's the point. They're supposed to be a reward right? 90% of the armor is going to be fairly easy to get. It's the really special stuff that's going to be hard to get, and it should be. You don't get a $500,000 paycheck for doing nothing (some do, not the point) and you shouldn't get inclement weather armor for online play if you earned it all offline in campaign anyway. It's also not like you won't earn credits in those things at all, you'll just experience a difference online vs offline. You don't have to play with "twerps" online, just blast grunts in the face...but if you want to take that armor online at some point, the credit amounts will be reduced. Just like it's "unfair" for you to have to work harder, it would be "unfair" for the try-hards to put in a bunch of effort for a worthless reward. It's fair for everyone.
I understand the frustration of working hard for something special just to see someone else get it without putting as much effort in, much like all the Halo 3 Generals that just bought their high-ranked gamertag from someone with a lot of free time on their hands. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the furstration of working for something just to have it taken away. if it was just that the credits or even the ranks were significantly cut down I wouldn't have a problem. But having them cut AND having literally everything in the armory that I've unlocked completely and utterly stripped away, that is what bothers me. Losing rank, I can live with that, because in the online field I accept that I didn't earn it. Same with the credits, I can accept that I didn't put as much work into getting those as people who cut their teeth in the arena. But what I've purchased should not be taken away. I can understand if items that were unlocked but not purchased were locked up again until I re-obtained the neccessary rank, but once it has been purchased none of us should have to worry about it being "stolen" from us. Oh, and thanks for responding with something intelligent instead of the utterly useless repetition of my words or the meaningless and patronizing "cool story" BS. All that stuff says to me is that people who spend hours reading updates, blogs, etc. are too damn lazy to read anything beyond thoughtless one-liners from fellow community members. I mean really, you want to skip over something, just skip over the three dozen "REACH IS DAH SHIZNIT" type posts. Not like those are really saying anything, considering this is meant to be a discussion thread for the sake of discussing a specific update, not a general nonsense thread for collecting spam.
