I just don't get it.

What's with's double posting rule, we're you're not allowed to post twice in a row. I can't make any sense of it. For example: "Hi, I own your soul." "That's nice." "I also like gravy." Now: "Hi, I own your soul." "I also like gravy." "That's nice." What's the big deal? He's going to say the second sentence one way or another, so whats the big deal about posting it right after the first sentence? Now, I understand how posting the same sentence twice is a complete waste of space. Can somebody explain this to me? I have a bad feeling that the answer will be painfully obvious.
