• Ok the
Posted by: byrum Yeah, and they don't work.
Ok then, If you say so. Let me test them out on you first okay? The other thing you can use is a firetruck hose. They shoot water at hurricane force and can literally push a man in the air for twenty feet.

 •
Posted by: Canadiankamikazi If you really want to fight someone on that level, you have to do it non-lethally. The police departments have a kind of shot that shoots small sand bags. They are like really nasty paintballs that knock you out from 100 ft out. That, as I see it, is the only humane way of dealing with extremely hostile people.
Yeah, and they don't work.

 •
Posted by: stangfb6117 We need to advance past RoEs. They are killing our soldiers. An infamous RoE is the do not shoot unless shot at first. That doesn't help when they have an RPG or sniper rifle aiming right at your head, you can't fire back because you are now paste. We need to be more worried about killing a few more of them and saving a few more of us. People often say that we need to "be the bigger person". That is a load of horse -blam!- and they know it. We need to fight on the same level as these guys; we need to get rid of the damn geneva convention (what are they going to do to us anyway); we need to assassinate their leaders when needed; we need to higher mercs that know urban and guerilla warfare better than we do. I am a Roman Catholic as well, but there is a time and a place when you need to fight wars.
I totally agree, I've been saying the same thing for years. Level the field. Play by their rules.

 •
Posted by: byrum Yes, we can. We haven't done anything wrong, they have. We're just serving justice, and making sure that they don't get a second chance to do whatever it is that they have done.
What is your definition of Justice? You can prevent them from doing this kind of stuff by seizing weapons and locking them up in jail. By killing them you are just enraging others to do even more brutal acts or "justice"!

 •
Posted by: Canadiankamikazi The difference between a civilian and a solider is one signed up to die. There is no good argument for the people who committed this monstosity. However, to sentence them to death is showing the same lack of respect for life that they are showing now. I understand that Texas believes that it is its God given right to give the death penalty, and even Canada has a law for it (we only give it for war crimes i.e. medical testing on prisoners, genocide, etc.), but it is wrong. We cannot, in good conscience, deem the death of another person to right the wrong of the first. You enter an endless ladder of stupidity if you head in that direction.
Yes, we can. • As much as my ranting may sound like some pro-religion kind of advertisement, it is the truth. The religions that believe in this kind of equality have the right idea. It is the perverts who purposely twist the truths that have been given to us as some form of advocation towards warfare that have to be dealt with. That does not mean killing them. The only way we can safely help these people is to relate to them on a personal level, so we can figure out why they do what they do.

 •
Posted by: stangfb6117 Actually that could be a true statement. If the asses in Washington would let us use air power when needed, we would be far better off. But no, we must remember Rules of Engagement. RoEs are for pansies. I war will never be won when we have RoEs.
Yeah, war is chaotic at best and we reallize that now. Rule of Engagement are an obsolete thing, like fighting in ranks, and cavalry charges. As long as there's nothing truely horrible like a genocide, war is war is war. War will always be bloody, and gruesome and there's not a damn thing that'll change that. In the process of winning a war, a few civillians in the other country are going to buy the farm. I mean, Osama bin Laden didn't mind when he ordered the deaths of 5,000 U.S. civillians.

 • I know this sounds harsh, but one more dead soldier doesn't really make a difference... Or does it? We should all value human life more than we do now, but that is not how the Islamic people see it. They see the death of a suicide bomber as glorious, as that is the only way they have ever seen it. If we were all raised in an empathetic and caring environment, we wouldn't have problems with war or racism or religion. We would all honour the sacred gift that we have that is life. Of course, the Buddhists believe in reincarnation, which sends that entire theory down in the drain for them. However, I being a Roman Catholic, I put a higher value on my own life, as it is all I have. I do not want to die, not because I fear for my skin, but because I believe that there is so much more I can do with my life to help others and make others lives better. To understand that not everyone sees things as you do is one step, but to go about showing people the meaning of perspective is entirely another. The death of this soldier is a tragic case of fear and hatred breaking over that wall of comfort that we surround ourselves with. You must, however, understand that the people who did this do not necessarily see this as a bad thing. They are using the death of this man as a way of communicating to the other people in the area. They do not want change in their country. And their is the one key problem. They do not want change. They feel better with how they are living right now, and cannot accept that we are trying to make their lives better. This can be frustrating, for how can you live in a utopia if people don't want to live with you? Our hate mongering over here shows that we are no better then the people over in the middle east. How good can you be, if you want to do the same thing to them as they do to you? There is no such thing as a just war. It cannot be. The only wars you should fight are ones that are attacking you. We, as civil and humane being, should always be on the defensive, if we are fighting at all. The only, and I mean only, thing even possibly worth going somewhere else to fight for is Equality. This is because you have as much right to hurt them, as they have of not being hurt. [Edited on 6/18/2004 12:24:04 PM]

 •
Posted by: GreenChief I don't see what those middle eaterners don't seem to understand. The more they pull these beheading and attacking stunts, the longer U.S. forces are going to stay. If they cut that crap out, the U.S. forces will leave.
Exactly! It's bull$hit like this that sometimes makes me wish I could join up with the Marines TODAY. I mean, the Iraqis who are doing this stuff think that they can intimidate us, but it's only going to make us fight harder to defend our peole, and the other nations who are with us in all this.
