Is Vault of Glass canon story?

So I have a a theory going that finishing the VoG wasn't actually part of the story. When you fly to the reef for the first time, Petra mentions that you have defeated the Black Heart, and Crota, but she says nothing about the VoG. Later in the story, we go "back" to VoG, but the oracles are still there. If we really have defeated the Templar and Atheon, shouldn't the oracles no longer exist? Feel free to comment what you think, I'll try to answer everyone. Also, forgive spelling, this was written on a phone. Edit 1: Guess nothing can be explained with time travel involved. Now another point to raise. We don't know how long the fallen were in the well, but they seemed to have set up shop there. So, why did the oracles not spawn until a guardian arrived? Does this mean that the Templar/Atheon "remembers" us? Also, was Skolas able to harness the power of a random vex in that last mission, or was he deeper in the vault while we were fighting in he well, and harnessing the power of Atheon himself? Either way, I'm really enjoying this story that raises so many questions.

  • The entire point of the vault is time travel and time distortion/multiple realities.

  • Due to the temporal nature of the vault, I refer to the description of Praedyth's Revenge: "Praedyth's fall isn't over yet.. because it hasn't happened yet… and it will happen again.". Just as with Praedyth, Atheon's fall isn't over, for it hasn't happened yet, and will happen again. Being trapped in a state of flux where he simultaneously exists before, during, and after his fall; Atheon can never be truly defeated no matter how many times he's destroyed. Atheon is forever, Atheon is eternal, as is his destruction.

    • The oracles exist by themselves. Atheon and the Templar are simply there to guide them. The fallen were probably able to set up shop because the Templar wasn't there to control them, allowing skolas to tap into their power and control them himself.

      • VoG is unbeatable, anyone who does gets frozen in time.

The Guardians who killed Aethon have never left and were stuck in time. That's why at the end of the VoG the music stops and it's silent. The VoG has never been completed yet because anyone who does gets stuck. Theirs a whole thread about this. Edit: Also good job on catching that in the diaolog with Petra!
