Glimmer cap....

I know this has been brought up a lot.. Yet nothing has been done about it... Having a cap on glimmer is the absolute dumbest code written into the game. Why should it matter how much glimmer we save? Some people are digital hoarders like myself. Allow us to save as much glimmer as we like, I beg you!! It doesn't allow us to cheat, or have any advantage over any other player.. So why the cap? I'm sure you don't know, or have a reason for it!! Sincerely yours, A disgruntled player

  • Probably like the vault space thing and something to do with lack of memory on old gen consoles. Remember its not just a number displayed on the screen, it's all the game code behind it. I'm glad all the new AAA games coming this year are not being released for old consoles it's about time we got some real next gen games.

    • The cap is there to force you into different play areas or game modes. Have you ever scored some sweet gear in Crucible or Iron Banner - then realized you get almost no glimmer by playing those modes? Yep - you'll need to do PvE for glimmer farming to level all your sweet loot. Score some great gear on a raid? You'll probably need to farm the raid a few times for materials, then farm somewhere for glimmer, just to level the loot. If they didn't have a glimmer cap they couldn't use it an an arbitrary carrot/stick setup where they try to push players into other game modes. I don't agree with it personally, but that's the only plausible theory I've seen.

      • Glimmer should be on a per character basis. ..25000 spread across 3 is a little thin

        • Everything Bungie does is a means to incentivize you to do certain things. The glimmer cap acts as a means by which to limit the number of special event items that enter into the game world, plus it also acts as a "stick" to get you to stop doing the game activities that award glimmer, and get you do participate in other parts of the game.
