As we all know and the new members will come to know, the title system has become and been a huge part of the Bungie community. This begs the question, when it returns, and titles are publicly visible again, will it have an affect on follower count?
Do you think you will look at a member with a quality post, see that they are the Bnext equivalent of Mythic and instead of just replying, you will follow and/or like their post too? Or, will you following someone just be a personal preference? I'd like some input on this my Bnexters, thanks!

Can I follow myself? Then the answer is yes.
-
If I am to be completely honest, I would say probably yes.
-
For newer members that will come because of Destiny, yes. For everyone else, not so much.
-
I think the idea of followers was a bad update towards the "new forums." Instead of posting in a topic for discussion there will be users who will post just to quote/reply to a well known member. This basically will glorify the quote a employee/ninja problem that existed on the old layout. Will title effect followers? Not really, because there were plenty of people with higher titles that lurked the forums and rarely posted. The followers will go towards highly active members who create a lot of threads.

Edited by Mass Craziness: 1/13/2013 12:42:06 AMI'm willing to bet it will for some, guaranteed. For some (users who just reply and don't make threads), they won't get much attention. For areas like The (new) Flood, well, it just matters on your posts. You made some cool (or so people think) posts? BAM! Hundreds of followers.

I just hope the Titles that may be introduced are not based on the number of followers you have. That would be icky.
-
For some people, maybe.
-
No idea; I don't follow people.
-
Yes, they will for some people. Not me.
-
Yeah.
-
Probably not.
-
No. I hope not. I follow the community regulars and people that I get along with, not because of their title. Be that Ninja, Employee, Mythic or Member.
-
Possibly.

Edited by Deus Avertat: 1/12/2013 10:50:44 PMI don't plan on changing who I follow based on titles. I have very little space to follow more people anyway, but even if I had plenty, I base who I follow on whether I like them or find them interesting. I do think, however, that it's inevitable that there will be some who base it on titles, so I think there will be an impact, if only a small one.
-
Only for mods and staff.
-
I don't think it will. If you post interesting stuff or add to the community then people will follow you, not just because you have a blue bar, or something along the lines of that.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the new members follow whoever the mythic equivalent is, since they would see them as senior members of the community.

Edited by burritosenior: 1/12/2013 10:32:53 PMPossibly. I was wondering more if follower number would affect titles. You're all welcome to follow me and find out. Bungie Employees won't get titles probably since their status overrode that kind of thing last time. I'm happy to be the ultimate title guinea pig. Plus let's just face it- I'm devilishly handsome and interesting. Also I wrestle sheep with my face.
-
There might be a correlation because people with titles have them because they've been around longer/ post more, but I don't think people are going to follow someone just because of their title.
-
I feel the follower account shall have an affect on the titles.
-
I don't think people will follow you just because your a mythic. They might correlate though because most mythics are well-known and therefore would have a lot of followers.

Edited by Payola: 1/12/2013 10:31:44 PMI don't really care. It will not effect it for me.
-
Edited by edableshoe: 1/12/2013 10:29:01 PMI highly doubt it. I was a lower rank than you, and yet I have 2 more followers than you. Burritosenior was just a basic member, and he has well beyond both our numbers. To the more naive user, there might be a small longing to follow another user of higher rank, but I think for the most part, the following system will be used and primarily limited to following those other users you want to see the posts of, and care about.

Down with Mythics!
