Shooting Range for Guns or Perks?
Hello Guardians!
Welcome to #2 of my new QoTD forums post! Todays topic is about something that has been floating around in my mind for some time now...

Imagine inside the tower, being able to choose from a list of different weapons (List refreshes weekly / Tuesdays) allowing you to try out weapons you could actually obtain that week of grinding?
Or what about being able to have access to a certain perk you haven't unlocked on your current equipped gun for a certain period of time.
This second topic, being able to have access to perks or new weapons for a short time, actually does have potential to really blossom in [u]Destiny[/u]. Now if you don't understand my point, heres a simpler way of look at it.
1] Go to Gunsmith (Or any special vendor)
2] Look through list of Exotic or Legendary Weapons (Ex. Gjallarhorn, Plan C,) or Weapon Perks (Ex. Explosive Rounds, Outlaw, Etc.)
3] Pay Gunsmith a certain currency depending on rarity of weapon
[b][5 Strange Coin for 1 Weeks Use of Exotic][/b] [b][10 Ascendant Shards for 1 Weeks use of Legendary][/b]
4] And Finally, enjoy that weapon for the week and once Tuesday comes around, it leaves your inventory!
Yes yes, I know there are possible exploits for this or things people would disagree, but tell me what you think in the comment section down below and,

I think a firing range in the tower would be a pretty cool addition, where you could enter, choose a weapon and perks and use them on dummies.

I love the idea of having a firing range, which would have all engram and consumable drops disabled, where you could test your weapons. Signed.

2 RepliesLike the idea of the firing range but renting guns is stupid. The people who have good guns (I'm not one of them) have to work hard to get them. If you rent out exotics every week (especially for 5 strange coins) everyone will have exotics, if everyone has exotics then everyone might as well have white guns. The thing that makes exotic guns exotic is that they are hard to get.

2 Repliescan we rent g-horn? allready got 2 :) and i would never mind everyone having 1 cause it doesnt steal anything from me. I would also like like weapon range (and INGAME grimoire, check Youtube MASS EFFECT 1). But many times i really would have liked to see if a fully levelled gun would work the way i expected/hoped for. Testing perks and stats before commiting into grinding would just be great. But I dont want to pay 5 coins or 10 shards.

What can you do in a shooting range that you couldn't do within five seconds of entering Patrol? Okay, so I was an idiot and posted before reading the thread. The renting idea sounds pretty cool, and you certainly can't do that in Patrol. Again, I don't think a shooting range is absolutely essential, but it'd be cool nonetheless.

I think Patrol is a perfectly good substitute for a gun range.

I won't say no to new content, but I'd much rather just have targets to test out my weapons on to see regular and critical damage. That way I could truly tell which of my similar guns are the best.

I think that there should be a range and your gun should be maxed no matter what when you go to test it. You can do actual combat against it's of just shoot a target.

2 RepliesWhy not just put gunrent vendors in patrol areas where guns can be hired, the rub, it's on a timer before disappearing from your inventory. That way no range needed, you just try it on targets in your area. While guns rented turn of XP gain, bounties etc so they can't be used to level up. This would be a good compromise, it's a way to try awesome stuff out, have fun and not level up so should keep everyone happy. Just charge 1 strange coin per hour...
