why was there no assault rifle in halo 2?
does anyone know why the assault rifle was taken out of halo 2??!!!!

Well if I remember right, bungie said it was replaced by the Battle Rifle as stated buy another member.

They felt that the weapons weren't acting like they were supposed to. They had a pistol that acted more like a rifle and a rifle that acted more like a submachine gun. They felt more satisfied with a pistol that acts like a pistol, a rifle that acts like a rifle, and a submachine gun that acts like a submachine gun. Yes, they may have screwed up the execution of this idea, but it's still a valid idea. At least that's what Bungie says in this "The Art of Halo" book I've got. [Edited on 05.25.2007 9:22 PM PDT]
