I personally grew favorable of the old Crucible weapons. When Destiny first launched, the crucible weapons were a orangish-crimson/silver-white color scheme. In my opinion, I greatly prefer this previous scheme in comparison to what we have now.
Since the Dark Below launched, the new Crucible weapons are a blue/red scheme.
For me, a low-budget Superman awkwardly flies across the screen whenever my eyes make contact with this new variation of colors.
It's not bad, but in comparison to the first collection, the aesthetics made too large of a leap from red/white to blue/red.
However, I can find a logical reason behind this. More than likely this was done to distinguish the default weapons from the expansion weapons. This is clearly visible with the new Rates.
In the base game, most rares are blue. In the Dark Below, most of the new rares are red/orange. Because if this I can easily understand the reason behind this aesthetic change. However, I personally find the bright-blue/crimson-red combo a bit tacky.

I just realized its actually a play off of Halo's old "Red v. Blue" thing
