Faction Ranks are Currently Meaningless Post Level 3

I'm not sure why i am even bothering to post this, but here goes. Currently there is no tangible point to have a faction rank number after level 3. At level 1 you maybe unlock an emblem or class item. At level 2 you unlock the armor. And then at level 3 you unlock the weapons. Every level after that gives you another nearly useless commendation and a package in the mail with some random goodies in it. While i enjoy the chance at getting a new weapon with a nice set of perks that suit my playstyle or stats that fit my preferences i cannot help but notice the number that goes up each time is nothing other than an arbitrary identifier of how long you have been "working for" that faction. What i propose adds some meaning to each rank up and keeps players invested in a particular faction for a while for reasons other than praying to RNGesus for a rare shader. Here is my idea: I've noticed the extra vendors only sell the same four weapons; Auto Rifle, Scout Rifle, Shotgun, and Heavy Machine Gun What if every other level after 3 unlocked one of the weapon types that wasn't for sale? E.g at 5 you can buy the Fusion Rifle, at 7 you can buy the Rocket Launcher, so on and so forth. But what about when you have all the weapons unlocked? How about if every 5 levels the gunsmith will let you re-roll perks from a different category. At 5 you can re-roll the first tree (sights and barrel types and such). At 10 you can reroll the first actual perk. At 15 you can re-roll the middle tree (field scout, send-it, AP rounds, etc), and finally at 20 you can reroll the second perk. Now lets spice things up. What if at a certain level you could re-roll perks into things typically not available for that weapon type? Maybe put Explosive Rounds on a HMG, Firefly on Pulse Rifles, or Focus Fire on Scout Rifles. Lets say this unlocks at level 25. High enough to not be hit too soon, but not that far off for players who can't play as much. When you want to re-roll perks you just go to the Gunsmith. He will take 1 commendation to re-roll normal perks, and 3 commendations to re-roll a perk into something that isn't standard for that weapon type. Since the Vanguard and Crucible vendors already have all the weapons unlocked something could be implemented for every other rank up in place of the weapon unlocks. Maybe increased rep gains or increased exp for turning in bounties. Other things that could tie into faction ranks: Discount for weapons and armor from that faction Increased Exp gained from kills while that factions class item is equipped Increased glimmer gains while that factions class item is equipped A unique faction bounty that unlocks at a certain level and provides a unique exotic weapon or armor (or both) So yeah, there it is in a nutshell. Basically just make faction rank matter for something tangible and worth committing to instead of continuing with the current system.
