[Lore & Speculation] DLC - Crota Falls, the Moon liberated?

So from the ground up, Destiny as a game has been built to key heavily off the public instances. Moving to each mission uses the public space, patrols and public events exist solely in them, and much of the grimoire/collectable content is found there too. The only time we see a segregated public space for new players is during that first trip to the Tower, during which only new Guardian's are included. Return to orbit and go straight back, and you'll be in with the 32's like usual. We know from this that Bungie wanted to avoid segregation. More importantly, tho, we can infer that to maintain the continuity of the story experience for newcomers to the game, we can't and won't see any major consequences from our Guardian's actions until Destiny 2. (Not unless Bungie plans to rewrite the entire beginning of the game in Comet, certainly, since the other DLCs are too small for that level of revision. DLC1 is strong evidence for this, since while minor public events were added to Earth and the Moon, the overall experience in those areas was untouched.) That gives us a fair wait before we see any major fall out from our trip to nail Crota, and our work to repel Omnigul's invasion force. I thought it might be fun to chuck a topic like this up following each DLC's full completion, so we can look back and see how opinions on where the story is going have changed. We've pretty much mined The Dark Below now, with hardmode down, and no further content to come from it. So what do you think will happen following the fall of Crota? Will the Tower return a liberation force to the Moon? What will happen to Eris? Can she be cured of her Hive inflictions? Ikora states in a grimoire card that Eris would be given a place at the Tower. Now Crota has fallen, do you think her presence will be further tolerated, or that she'll be banished, ala Toland, for her corruption? How do you think the Luna public instances will look when we next see them updated properly in 2.0? Can the Hellmouth be cleared? Will we have a base of operations there? Best guesses, people. It'll be interesting to look back, as we near the next true episodic update in Destiny 2, and see how events have unfolded.

  • This is an outcome I would like to see because it would give the perception of progress and would move the story forward. A force will be sent to the moon and will establish a forward base of operations. We will continue to clear the Hive and Fallen forces that are left scattered across the moon and will explore deeper into the Hellmouth. Guardians will also focus on retaking lost territory on Earth and purging the Hive and Fallen from the Cosmodrome. With the Earth and moon clear and a home foothold established, we will be able to effectively focus offensive operations throughout the rest of the system. With this I hope the Tower will be expanded in area as well as more NPC’s and venders being added. Another social hub similar to the Tower located in the Reef would be a beneficial addition as well. Eris is a little weird, completely understandable why, but she is still odd. I don’t know what purpose she will serve without the doom and gloom speeches regarding Crota. She is too unstable to be utilized as a mentor, so I believe she will be reduced to a merchant status and given a place by the Guardian Outfitter. She will be tucked away out of the public eye of course due to the third eye and the black oozing stuff. I believe we are not done with the Hive and that they will continue to be a threat, but Eris’s experience and knowledge will not aid us outside the Hellmouth.
