Last night, I was playing some Big Team Battle and during one of the game loads I hear a small voice chirp up, "Howz it going guyz?" It was a small kid who sounded about 8 or 9 years old with a very high pitched voice and a gamertag of Steggy198. I replied, "Oh Lord, we've got Pikachu on our team." Steggy then asked in an excited tone, "Pikachu? Where's Pikachu?" To which I responded, "There you are." He then squeeked in a rejected tone, "Real funny guys."
The game loaded up and it was Assault on Headlong. We were the red team and our team consisted of Pikachu and another young player, a grizzled old veteran, a sniper, a punk, and one good player. From the start, it was evident that Pikachu and his buddy were going to be nothing more than cannon fodder (dood! yay! I got the sword!) but the grizzled veteran was able to coordinate us enough to do an allout assault on their base where we barely lasted them out enough to plant our bomb. Then during blue teams turn, they came at us from all angles and scored with ease. This must have been disenheartening to a few of us because the sniper and the punk soon dropped. It was now 8 vs. 6. Being two men down we were not able to bring enough pressure to plant our next bomb. Going into the last match, the veteran spoke, "We must defend this base. I know that we are two men down but that does not mean that we should give up without a fight. Go out, get a good weapon, and return to the base immediately. They ARE NOT planting that bomb!" Blue started at us from the invisibility side, but I was well placed next to the trash bins and was able to pick them off. They then tried to come up from underneath but the veteran was able to hold them off and caused them to drop their bomb. The bomb returned to their base. There was less than a minute left on the timer and we had been successful so far. I was guarding top side. The veteran was guarding the bottom. Both of us noticed that there was no action in our areas, which only left swordside. Oh no, Pikachu! Pikachu had retreated across the bridge and they had already eliminated his buddy and our good player. There was less than 30 seconds left to the game. The veteran came up and knocked off two of them before he went down to a carbine shot between the eyes. Blue had two guys left and it was just me and Pikachu. I was carrying the shotgun and got behind Pikachu who had the sword. He may be young, but a spartan makes good cover no matter what age they are. Pikachu then rushed the lead guy but was mercilessly gunned down by dual SMGs before he could lock on. THEY KILLED PIKACHU! 15 seconds left. Pikachu's sacrifice allowed me to get in close. BLAM! The lead guy crumples to the floor. BLAM! BLAM! The bomb carrier collapses. 3..2...1 Game over. We were able to hold out and score the tie even being two men down. So raise your glass to the valiant Pikachu who never gave up when faced with overwhelming odds. Here's to you, Pikachu.

Hey nice piece, that was really funny. At first when I read the thread name, I thought it was some -blam!- post about how much some 12 year old loves Pokemon. Well, you gave me a pleasant surprise. Good job!
Posted by: Halifax
Posted by: Casey
Posted by: Halifax hmm...it seems to me that pikachu wasn't at all valiant...just plain stupid. But hey, he didn't back down so that is something I guess. No hiding in the shadows for pika! No asking for help from pika! And did someone say strategy? Forget about it. Because Pikachu is brave...and that is all that matters right?
Not brave, stupid. There is a very fine line between the two. He thought he was "TEH l337" and would get some sword kills, but as it turns out he just sucked. Still...his sacrifice allowed his team to win. So it's heroic stupidity!
And that is all that matters. So long as your team wins, no matter what you do its all right.
Hahaha, yup!

Very nice, I liked the story, moral of the story: never underestimate the power of one. And I hate to say this, but just for future reference, stuff like this should go in Zanzibar. Yet, it's intelligent enough for the Flood, I would hate to see what would happen to this in Zanzibar. [Edited on 12/14/2004 12:08:33 PM]
