Obviously Bungie has mentioned that they want people to EARN their own exotic weapons and gear and that trading could break the game (people offering uns for real money, lots of exploits, etc). We've seen trading fail in lots of games and I don't think it's a good idea either.
I propose an alternate option that benefits mainly from playing in fireteams with friends. This is:
When you get to an end mission screen where your rewards are displayed, you have the option to request a trade of rewards with fireteam members. They can either accept or decline this until the party leader returns the fireteam to orbit. Why is this great?
1. This can easily be ignored if, playing with random people in crucible or vanguard playlists, you get a gun that everybody wants to trade their reward for.
2. This can enable the very unlucky person in your group of friends who keeps getting shards and coins from nightfalls while his friends get hawkmoon for the third time (yes a bit of personal trauma here) to get appropriate rewards.
3. You can pass up your pointless exotic gear for other classes when you're set on one class. I have gotten more warlock exotic gear than titan and hunter combined, the two classes I actually play. The two friends I play with most are both warlocks and I wish I could have given them the gear in exchange for their reward.
Obviously it may be exploited (somehow - I can't think of anything at the moment) but I think it would be a nice way for friends to help each other out. It won't cheapen the experience either because you worked equally hard to EARN the reward, you were just unlucky and got 7 -blam!-ING COINS 3 TIMES IN A ROW FOR NIGHTFALLS while your fireteam mates get appropriate legendary and exotic rewards.
The main point is that it is completely optional for the person with the desired reward to give it up or not for the offered reward.

EDIT: To avoid misunderstandings, you wouldn't be trading any random gun for another person's reward, you would be swapping your reward for theirs (if they agree to it). So if player A gets hawkmoon, B gets 7 coins and C gets Plan C., player B can ask to trade with either A or C for either exotic. Player A wants hawkmoon, but player C already has plan C so they can opt to accept the 7 coins in exchange. So in the end player A walks away with hawkmoon, B with plan C, and C with 7 coins.
What do you all think? Please make sure you BUMP so it won't go unnoticed by Bungie!

I was about to suggest, pretty much the same thing, you have my support!

Sounds freaking great

But then you'd have a chance of getting something you want.. They gonna nerf yo post. :p

Edited by Darches: 4/26/2015 12:25:29 AMOr you could just give me 3 drops and let me choose what I find most appealing. This adds more decisions to the game, which is important for interactive entertainment. Oh man, I won 2 exotics and a PILE of shards, but I can only choose one! Hmmmm...

At this point I would take a simple reroll option. If you don't need or want what it gave you, you could have 1 oppertunity to roll for a different prize. The rerolled prize could be better or worse than the first offering, but never the same.
-
So this wont work with raids at all because there is no misson rewards screen, rewards are given during the raid
-
Not a bad idea, except it may cause inter-gamer frustration and anger, especially if say Player A gets the best weapon, but maybe contributed the least, and Player B only gets some coins or shards. Player B wants the weapon awarded to Player A, but player A says no deal. Player B cries and gets pissed and bitches all over the forums, and makes player A's game-life miserable. Just one potential scenario.

Keep exotic and dismantle for upgrade materials

Edited by Recon SR2: 12/29/2014 5:18:30 PMNot a bad idea at all. I got a second Suros from the Nightfall, my friend got a legendary machine gun. We both ended up dismantling them, so why not let me give him the Suros. To rub salt in the wound, I had just gotten the new Suros after upgrading my old one at Xur last week.

this is a good idea, and not easily exploitable (I certainly can't think of any in game mechanic that would cause this to be exploitable). Bungie should consider this because it would fix the problem some players have with luck. I want the hard light, but my friends constantly get it, and after ten weeks of trying to get it, I have seen at least 5 people who did not want the hard light get it, and both me and them wish we could exchange rewards! THIS IS A GOOD IDEA! DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS, AND MANY PEOPLE WOULD NEVER COMPLAIN ABOUT REWARDS EVER AGAIN!

I agree there needs to be a trading system of some sort and it could eventually come in the destiny franchise on a much later date or on a sequel. Bungie will not add anything else to Destiny 1 simply because they will want to put new ideas onto the second game in order to give us another reason to burn another $100 dollars in our pockets.
-
Interesting. Doesn't affect the total number of rewards given, doesn't truly circumvent RNG.
-
Sounds like a loot pool system to me.
-
Not a good idea, at all. If Bungie's going to add any form of player to player trading or swapping, then it needs to be a completely unrestricted system. Adding any form of restrictions of requirements other than protective measures (Level requirements, raid completion, etc) would only cause more problems than it would do any good. There's been countless other threads touching this issue, I even covered it myself a while back. I honestly think we should focus our efforts there instead of on this form of a system.

Upvoted. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten a pile of strange coins from the nightfall, only to hear someone complain that they got an exotic for my class.
-
This is basically the WoW trading system for raids and etc. and I agree. BUMP
-
gifting instead of trading would be better..send items to friends in the mail
-
I love when people think trading will lead to people asking for real money everywhere. Have you ever thought that it would be the vast minority doing that? Far more people would be giving their friends their spare stuff for nothing/little. Look at Borderlands 2 for crying out loud, how much have you heard of people trading gear for money there? Because I've never seen it. Hell, some people just drop stuff for others instead of using the trade system.
-
I agree with this 100%

Exactly what I want after farming 6 days for the husk of the pit you should be able to trade material as well
