The Traveler Lore & Speculation

In the Traveler's Grimoire cards, namely Ghost Fragments it mentions Dreams of Alpha Lupi atop them all, it speaks of a past, a past that could be believed to be the Travelers. We don't know much about the Traveler, only that when it arrived it brought with it a Golden Age that humanity would prosper in. It's gifts changed the solar system and the nature of human life. Ghost Fragment: The Traveler 1
You have lived as invisibly as possible, flicking from solar system to solar system, making grand plans, overseeing the culturing of civilizations, before leaving in a blink. But you have no recollection of ever wanting worship or even thanks from those blessed by you. But memory is heavy now. It feels like lead and neutronium and electroweak matter fashioned into a moon-sized ball that you must carry as you move. Now, your flight is rapid, your vast mind infected with such dread and toxic doubt that you find yourself afraid of the simple act of thought. And it is your children you must turn to now, in time of need.
Ghost Fragment: The Traveler 2
This has been such a long chase. This will be the place you will fight. Fight and win. But do you really know why you go where you go, and where this journey is taking you? The chase leads you where you need to be, you believe. Unless...you are being pushed.
Ghost Fragment: The Traveler 3
The knife had a million blades. And you were giant, powerful and swift. But the knife pinned you. Cut your godly flesh away. Very little was left, you are sure, because you feel insignificant now. The hard slick heart of your soul: That is what remains. A body small as a river stone, and just as simple. You picture yourself as a piece of indigestible grit, a nameless nothing hiding among other nameless stones. Perhaps you glitter like a gem, yes. Pride makes you hope so. If only you could see yourself. But you have no eyes. Not the dimmest sense survives. What lives is memory, and what slim portion of these thoughts can you trust? The knife stole much more than your body.
The Grimoire cards speak of a past we believe to have been the Travelers, captured by its Ghosts. It mentions that the Traveler was aware of the Darkness, that the beast had taken away more than just its body and that it was always moving from solar system to solar system. The Earth is where the Traveler would stand and fight, fight and win. But what are your thoughts? (I'll add more onto this later.)

  • I think the traveler is a Trojan horse and the cause of the darkness. I think rasputin perceived this. Common, do you really think you traveled through time in that last gate, or were you teleported to the black garden which is INSIDE the traveler sphere?

      • I believe the traveler is here to help us. However, by bringing us these miracles, it also attracted death, the counter of life. There is always symmetry in these things... The traveler is not good or evil. It simply is. It brings life, and miracles. The dark shadow, brings death, and the ending. Rasputin did something to fend off the darkness, but this ultimately caused the collapse. Some would blame Rasputin as the ultimate cause, but according to a old experiment: many timelines, were in fact, already lost to the darkness. So maybe Rasputin saved us. The nature of life is a constant struggle. Light nor dark can be exterminated. Just pushed back for a time. It seems that races linked to the darkness have some ability to manipulate physics as we know it. So maybe that manipulation, that sapient intentional change of matter, is the darkness. And whatever that power to manipulate the very course of matter and time is, is what the darkness seeks to bring about. I want to reference ir yut's song. " to know the words are mortal, to sing it is to die" This bring a couple of possibilities to the table... One; the hive are being controlled by the darkness Two: the hive is the physical representation of the darkness. Three: the darkness's power is not its own. And it can be mastered, to perhaps rival the strongest foe.

      • In order, and in short, I'll direct you to a post of mine if you want more detail: Alpha Lupi, the Traveler, went from galaxy to galaxy expressing her immense power by changing them to her liking. The Darkness pursued and she began to grow deep insecurities and self doubt about herself. This led to self destructive thoughts as well and she became afraid of the simple act of thought. She has chosen where to fight, this is it. But was she being pushed? Was something setting a trap? The aurora blades that cut into here were the antimatter bombs set off in the reef by Rasputin.

        • Im hitting this subject with a video today, but Im still convinced the words from Alpha Lupi are open to interpretation, I personally feel that they are supposed to be interpreted by everyone a bit differently.

          • I have had a difficult time interpreting those particular cards. Honestly they feel more metaphorical than actually based in true non fiction. I'd have to spend a lot more time on them to get a solid response.

"The shrine of Oryx is a sphere. Seems random huh? Or maybe the shrine is in the image of Oryx. I know, that sounds ridiculous a powerful entity shaped like a planet. What are the chances of that (sarcasm) I will end this with a quote from Xur. Your traveler, has a dark mirror. (EVIL TWIN!?)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RJFedcQlEM

                • The use of 2nd person in these cards perspective makes it difficult to interpret who's speaking, and to whom. I agree this seems to be a past of the traveler, his history is shrouded; yet, these cards seem to reveal and shine light on theories I've seen dance around. If the traveler has spent time in other solar systems, bringing his light without the awareness of his worship, this could explain the other species fighting us. Perhaps these are species the traveller helped, and they worshiped and relied on him as we do now. His inability to realize this angered them, as when the Traveller felt the time was right; he disappeared. Maybe they're chasing him to regain their light, and this is also why other species fight eachother. They're envious of mankind, who the Traveller seems to favour by protecting us and staying with is. When in reality, it is us who are protecting him. This leaves us with a puzzling situation to describe the hive - a species who fights everything but despises the light, and it leaves us in the dark on what the darkness truly is (pun fully intended.)
