A major factor in development constraints for Destiny is meeting projected profit milestones. A great deal of players are currently experiencing frustration with the content releases feeling more like quantity than quality.
Resources are allegedly being allocated to a second release for the franchise. This means that at least one team is focusing on another game while a portion of the player base feel like they're playing an unfinished release.
If it meant paying a monthly subscription to support heavier investment in properly fleshing out the world of Destiny, would you pay it?

Yes, if expansions were of the size and scale of WoW with the graphics and gameplay of Destiny then I would certainly pay monthly. But the expansions and raid would need to be considerably larger. They would need to add huge playable areas on existing planets as well as new planets. And making the raids longer and harder would be a must. Many more mini boss encounters and a minimum of four to five big boss encounters, along with all their puzzly jazz would be really cool. Also story would need to be sufficiently fleshed out with a Significant amount of new story content. All this I would be willing to pay monthly for.

Yup. In a heartbeat.

What a stupid subject to bring up, knowing that 99% of destiny players are sick and tired of the ritual grind, worthless armor at each new "DLC", lack of story, lack of new material, lack of creativity with making each guardian look identical in their given class, unresolved raid glitches, unresolved and ongoing server issues, all the infernal nerfing of all weapons so Bungie can keep all guardians locked into their eternal grind over the next 10 years.... And so many more complaints from gamers that are clogging the forums and Bungies "in box". Ask yourself this... If the car you were thinking of buying had this many problems, would you buy it or walk away ??? .... Pay a monthly fee for a crap game and ongoing crap server service... What a stupid fuking insult to us garmers !!!!

Not in this game. It is clear Bungie had a very finished product, but cut small portions out and sold them back to us as "Expansions". There are large amounts of uninhabited map space that Bungie depopulated in order to sell us a quick, poorly thought out, expansion (Crota's End). Imagine if all of of that empty map space was filled with raids, strikes, and quests from the beginning. Bungie is nickle and diming us. I hope everyone else sees this too.

These kind of questions are posed by the developing gaming companies already. The likely conclusion is that a one-time payment for 1) the initial game itself and 2) any optional DLC is a far better deal for everyone. For them because they get all the cash up front, for us because we have a fixed flat fee. In order to make it monthly, they would need to lower the initial fee of the game and lower the fee for any DLC or risk a decrease in overall revenue. That just doesn't make business sense.

Edited by Southern4x4: 2/7/2015 8:32:39 PMNo. I paid for a game based on Bungies prerelease hype. The game is good but does not even come close to what they said it would be. Throw in the countless glitches and bugs that they refuse to address and my answer becomes a strong HELL NO. As far as Destiny 2 goes - given their total lack of effort in fixing what's broke and instead constantly Nerfing guns and ignoring everything else, I wouldn't pay a dime for Destiny 2. Destiny has been a huge disappointment in terms of Bungie being proactive in fixing what's broke. I hope they lose their ass on this game but doubt they will.

I would pay for it as it is right now. Sure. Destiny has a lot of ways to keep players enticed. The thing is, the comparison factors are huge compared to PC Master Race. If you try to compare console games though?
-
IF they fixed everything, but see what bungie put out so far... Bhahahahahahahahaha no.
-
Haha no. I'm not against monthly sub, I'm against Bungie's way of doing things.
-
-
Not unless they fix all the problems in the game and fire DeeJ
-
Maybe because it is an unfinished release, just be prepared guys bungie will take the lazy way out and you will have a skeleton game (destiny 2) on release with no story line what so ever.. they already saw they can get away with it what is stopping them from doing it again?
-
No because it wont improve the game
-
Bump Yes

Profit milestones? Ha

I already purchased a online only game, pay Xboxlive and the Internet cable Company . MS should have sued Activison for ruining their Reputation in Connection stability. the 100$ for a 70% metacritic game with cut out guts shipped later as "DLC" should be enough allready, this game couldve been a System seller for xbone and ps4 but was screwed up and still is 5 months later.
-
No already paid $100, most expensive game I've ever bought up front. Bought 2 DLCs sight unseen as so called expansions. I do enjoy playing the game a lot but the game should have remained $60 bucks with both DLCs included. I don't feel like a monthly subscription would make this any better or more enjoyable.
-
$20/month. Max. Then yes.
-
Nothing wrong with the game
-
Negative very few games can survive the pay to play model look at TESO.
-
If it was what it is now but the size and scale of ff14 then maybe. The most Id be willing to pay for a monthly subscription in $5-12. Couldn't EVER see paying more than that no matter how much money Id make
-
I mean I purchased the game and dlc, that's a subscription if I've ever seen one
-
Hahahahahaaa.....no.
-
Probably... NOT! I would just rather pay for the game itself and put down money for a COMPLETE expansion pass, that is priced reasonably.
-
Not with this game, given what has been shown as work for dollars spent. Another game? I'd wait for reviews from friends, but if it was good enough, maybe. It would never really be my primary way of buying games, though. I want basically 95% of my games to be able to be played alone without more paying for it, and without having to be online. And when I'm done with it, I'll be happy to consider another product from the same company if the game was good enough.
