Reforge option for Gunsmith?

Ok so i see that the IB gets the ability to reforge weapons and get different perks but resets the weapon level to zero, this is a fair trade. So why doesn't our friend the Gunsmith have this ability, it would be great have the option to reforge weapons and armor at the cost of motes of light or something. Like i mean you've already got the system working for the IB why not have it for the Gunsmith?

I posted this idea a while back. I want to pick my perks though. No adding element damage, that's for raid gun snowflakeness Cost: 23 motes of light to start the reforge process, resets weapon. 2000 Glimmer for the first tree (scopes). 5000 glimmer, 100 weapon parts each for the unique perks (#2 and 5 perks).

Caveat to that maybe have an option to put an element charge on maxed out weapons. Then you gotta choose. Do i reforge my maxed out *insert legendary weapon here* with mediocre stats (like a hip fire accuracy bonus on a scout rifle) for about 7 motes OR do i put a element charge on it for like 30 motes and just be happy. Also i realize after a while and enough reforging everyone would have perfect weapons with element damage, (which is arguably more valuable than an exotic) so make reforging only available for maxed out weapons. Thatll make the choice that much more significant. Or make the element charge only available for maxed out exotic primaries. For a hefty price of course. I want my exotics to have more potential. Lots of spitballing here. Lol

      • This would be awesome, I agree that this needs to be implemented for both armor and weapons. When I was playing Diablo 3, it was awesome when they added the ability to roll a certain feature of a piece of armor or weapon. You can only select one item to change, and each time they would charge you more and more, but it was definitely a great feature!

      • I'd say increase the cost of it n possibly make it a bit more interesting to change a weapons/armors perks you must have 2 copies of a rare with the perk you want it switched too so for example if you had a Comedian and wanted its last perk switched to Grenadier you would need 2 rare shotguns with grenadier on you as the cost along with the Comedian getting reset to 0 exp (if it had anything exp) this way it would make the gunsmith and those useless rare items useful

        • How does this not have more comments/views? This would be the best thing they could add to pvp. Make the stats stay the same but the perks change. Have it cost marks/motes. You could also do it with armor aswell.

          • This. 2 motes a forge. Perfect. I have a few dozen weapons and armor pieces waiting for this. Rng never gives me the stays i want. Let's talk about that 400 point boost.

          • Excellent idea! Thanks for posting. Also just the very idea of PvP where equipment stats matter is also a fun element of IB that would be nice to incorporate permanently as an optional crucible gameplay mechanic. Have two separate Crucibles, one leveled, and one where equipment matters.

Simple answer. Because PvEer would benefit from a change like that which is clearly not intended to happen in Destiny that is centered solely around the preacious PvP. Sad but true. So deal with it. In fact I bet that the next major update will include the trials of osiris event and the option for PvP-players to also reroll the general stats of their equipment. And the big PvE-feature of this update will be the fix of the exploit in the chamber of Valus Ta'aurc so you can no longer hide behind the crates or in the pit which is clearly not intended to be there in the first place. You know programming a safezone just happens. It is not intended by any means. Gotta stop writing I'm getting sick again.

            • If the gunsmith can do that, he would only be in the tower once a month. Don't you get it by now? Bungie doesn't want us to get what we want because if we did, we'd lose interest in this game much quicker. So instead of making more content, they limit our access.

                • Wait, where can you do this? And can we change all stats, or only perks? And does it work with exotics, because then I might be able to turn the Bad Juju into something that's actually usefull, since the buff is also a 10-year project.

                    • Most def agreed. Sucks when you get a good legendary gun, but it's random abilities are the worst. Nothing worth than getting a legendary sniper that gains bonus accuracy when crouched!
