Basically my idea goes like this.
You have 4 enemy types and 3 elemental types plus regular bullets with no element. While I've noticed high level enemies have elemental over shield which reduce all damage EXCEPT the element it is. I think you could have humans "reverse engineer" them to our benefit where the type of element we wear REDUCES damage for that element. It will only work with our shield so if that breaks then there's no reduction until our shield recharges again. Just have enemy bosses drop them when set to the highest difficulty. Make it a lvl 20+ item just like the shaders.
you could disable it in PvP which doesn't matter to me.
Rarity:
Green = 10% reduction
Blue = 20% reduction
Purple = 30% reduction

So basically you want Destiny to be even a bit more like Borderlands 2 I mean I love both the games but a lot of people already complain the two games are too similar.
