T4R. You can't. I feel it's time some of the ignorant haters learn what Christianity is actually about because I'm absolutely sick of reading false accusation after false accusation pertaining to Christianity.
ATTENTION:
THE CRUSADES IS NOT A VALID ARGUMENT.
Christianity as a religion does not condone murder or even killing in the name of Christianity. The decision to fight was made by the pope. The pope OBVIOUSLY does not control the religion. To be a Christian, you must follow Jesus Christs' word. Jesus never condoned killing. Therefore the pope went against his own religion in ordering a war. The pope does not have more say than Jesus. The pope does not control the religion. He is was nothing more than a man in power and a hypocrite. You can not blame a religion for being evil when individual people who can do whatever they want do something bad and affiliate themselves with the religion.
I mean If you're going to do that then:
A guy who lives to eat fried chicken kills someone. So people who eat fried chicken are evil!
It's stupid.
-
I agree. It is a religion of peace, it's just that those that claim to be Christian don't always follow the teachings.
-
seems pretty fuggin brutal to me
-
Op is not wrong, the bible teaches people to be kind to each other and all that good jazz(although the old testament approving slavery and stuff contradicts that). However, people use it manipulate others to do terrible things, for an overused and perfect example of this, the Crusades. Which is why religion gets labeled as being evil by people. Personally I just feel it's unecessary, people should focus less on praising some dude in the sky and focus on doing stuff that helps mankind. Or spending time on the Internet because it's easy :p
-
Crusades were about holy "LAND". People will always wage war for power, influence, and land. That's it. Look at every war ever.
-
The crusades aren't a valid argument because it's a perfect example of Christians being horrible people!
-
people are f****** idiots man. you need to read a scholarly database if you don't know that the crusaders attacked the people who once invaded them.
-
Not true. I'm an atheist.
-
The bible teaches against Gay people, and in doing that, it is promoting segregation and unrest (The opposite of peace).
-
How about Christian extremists, who less are less publicly known are just as bad as ISIS in there motives and actions

In the crusades they killed people for them having another religion

There nothing that has killed more then religion. Not saying that religion condones it but it causes it.

Edited by Onxide: 3/28/2015 2:18:46 PMYou cannot have peace without acceptance... in which, unfortunately, most religions refuse to accept other's beliefs...
-
Those Catholic priests were very peaceful while they were molesting altar boys.
-
God straight up murders people for doing shit he doesn't like.

Talos will always love all of you

Talk about the dark age and inquisition

Edited by Camaztle: 3/31/2015 4:31:25 PMDeuteronomy 22:21 "She shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father's house. You must purge the evil from among you." That's one.

"The pope does not control the religion"
-
The crusades is a valid Argument because most went willingly, and Christianity in this world is causing so much hate and violence over homosexuality and transsexuality because they are bigoted morons who worship a crispy piece of fiction.
-
Going off of title and not wordwall It is until you decide to impose your beliefs on another Kinda like you just did
-
I will accept what you say if we all decide to stop throwing the title Christian around so loosely.
-
Seeing the comments in this thread has completely shrekt my faith in humanity.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 8/8/2015 4:59:30 PMI just don't understand the notion of a belief being peaceful when the god of said belief floods the planet killing everyone even though he told everyone that killing is bad and then said that he regrets making humans followed by having us murder his son to save us from something bad that he gave us in the first place all while being powerful enough to know how everything was going to happen in the first place...but that's just me. Even if all that stuff is only taken metaphorically(I have yet to hear a positive metaphor for genocide), I don't understand the appeal. If you have to cherry pick what you like and ignore the bad things from Christianity, there isn't much left. You aren't a Christian. You're just a good person for dismissing all those bad things.

It might do as all religions do the trouble starts when people twist it and make it fit their purpose.
