Shielded Enemy killing guide
Thought I'd share this with you fellow guardians, some already know this and some don't.
Some enemies have shields, you can tell the type of shield from the colour. Shields can be bypassed with matching weapons and in some cases the enemy will even take additional damage if the right matching weapon is used:
+ Yellow / Orange shield = Solar damage, use a weapon or bomb that deals solar damage (icon looks like a flame)
+ Blue / Whitish shield = Arc damage, use a weapon or bomb that deals arc damage (icon looks like a spinning ninja star)
+ Purple shield = Void damage, use a weapon or bomb that deals out void damage (icon looks like a coil)
All class supers also deal out both type depending on which sub class you have equipped.
This has made farming strikes so much easier.

2 RepliesWhat about armor vs health; do particular types of ammo work more effectively than others, or are they simply scaled levels of toughness that require more ammo to bring down?

Those 3 little things on the mars strike have the ability to change their shield types so having different damage type weapons is very handy.

I love how Bungie have quite clearly started us off easily with the Strike bosses etc. They haven't dumped complicated encounters on us just yet. The Flayers on Dust Palace were good fun for me. Getting my guys to focus one down at a time preferably using the corresponding damage type. Makes a huge difference compared to everyone running around shooting whatever like you can on most other encounters. Simple to those of us used to MMO's etc but new to those just used to FPS'. Looking forward to what they'll hit us with in future!

To simplify: Match the element color to the shield color.

Excellent tips man! It took me too long to figure this out. I'd say it'd be nice to have had a bit of help in game from it but at the same time part of being a Guardian is figuring out what works on your own.

I always have at least all 3 types of my fave weapons in my inventory. That helps too.
