September 8, 2014 - The Last Day of Darkness

We finally made it. How many years went by? Seem like yesterday but feels like an eternity.
I saw lots of people come and go. Made some new friends. But also glad to see some old members returning.
May the next ten years filled with the excellence of Destiny. Clank!

There were days posts would stay on page one of the forums for days, if not weeks. Just made one an hour ago and it went to page 3 in 2 minutes. Seriously. My excitement can only be compared to going to Disney World on Christmas morning while min-mouse pleasures me during the fireworks spectacle while I ride a roller coaster. Oh and I'm eating funnel cake. I dig that shit. Damn I'm pumped.

I remember reading the update Urk posted about going dark like it was yesterday. After going back and re-reading the article just a moment ago, one paragraph really stood out and made me feel emotional. That paragraph would be... "So, this isn't a goodbye. It isn't The End. Instead, it's the very beginning of a new journey that will stretch the limits of what we are capable of. Ancient engines are now rumbling deep within the heart of our studio, and their energy will power us through the upcoming darkness. Like all dark times ours will be broken first by a single strand of light – a tether reaching out to bind us all together again. One day, we will awaken in a wondrous new place and we will remember just what it was that drew us together at the beginning of it all. We will look up to the heavens, and find hope." Thank you for everything. See you starside. I believe we've all awoken in that wondrous new place..

Been on this board since the Halo 2 days. Seen a lot of changes and didn't like when they shut down the old forums but I love Bungie and can't wait to see what they have in store for Destiny.

3 RepliesLet's assume the Darkness began on July 8th, 2011, when [url=http://halo.bungie.net/news/content.aspx?link=seeyoustarside&type=topnews]Urk posted the update[/url] saying that they would go dark that week. From that date to Monday the 8th, the last day before Destiny, is a total of 1159 days, or 3 years, 2 months, and 1 day. It's weird to think that the majority of my time on Bungie.net has been in the Darkness. "You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!"
