you do realize these are all issues with the console right? I dont do pc, but i know that consoles dont have the cpu, gpu, RAM, processor, etc required for such features.

  • Except for the fact that call of duty features 12 player pvp (6v6) and battlefield is what, 16 I think (8v8). So the ability is there to link into larger groups. The only work around I've figured is you can fight together in explore mode (albeit without communication) as long as you don't enter an instance area. Once you enter one of those, you're auto split from anyone not in your fire team.

  • If I could post what I see in FF14. I have no clue how to do it. These consoles can handle a lot. FF14 is a full on MMO. My PS4 handles it great. It's the servers. The consoles can handle it. You get what you pay for. FF14=subscription

  • I'm aware that they are, all I'm saying is the systems do in fact have the tech to handle the game being larger. Or having larger parties. I'm sure I've been gaming far longer than you, I'm aware of game types and console abilities.

PS4 and xbox one do if you look at the specs from a computer 10 years ago when MMO's like WOW and SWG came out. The computer and the internet were not as powerful and yet the did it? I don't think it has to do with power it has to do with time and cost.

  • I am playing FF 14 on my PS4, I was on the 3. I play with PCs, and PS3+4s on the same server. Cross gen, and platform. Have you seen it? It's amazing. One of the newest battles is called " Frontlines" 3 teams of 24 players. 72 total in a PVP open world team battle. These consoles can do a lot more then you think? My first post in these forums asked "will we all be playing together" answer: " no game has been cross gen. or platform." Even Deej in an interview said " as with all console games, it's just not possible." I knew better. I saw it work. Where has Deej been? Tech is always advancing. I was looking forward to Destiny because of what I saw in FF14. After beta, the hype did not match what I expected. It was only beta I said. I don't know why Bungie is holding back. I have participated in 40-50 player fates ( public events) in open world in FF. These new consoles, even my 3 could handle it. It's got to be another reason. It's not the consoles. Maybe their servers? Maybe something else?

  • They had FFXI on the PS2 for peat sake. Sure not everyone showed up on screen in main towns, but that was okay because it helped navigate, I you were to join a party, the members became visible. That was how long ago. With next gen hardware that's said to be mid-level range in PC terms, this should work. That and Destiny is only 30 frames per second. I feel like they're being cautious... I hope they open it up more. 3-5 man fire teams, plus all the other things that make big battles sweet. I reeeeaally want to get back into FF, but the sub is kind of high for me right now... :-( average for an MMO, but don't have much time to play. Is it faster in terms of progression then. FFXI?

  • Yes. This was my first MMO. The players that did play Final Fantasy 11 say yes. Faster pace. You should do some research the game is really impressive. There may be a promotion this weekend for a free logon look into it. Tell me what you find. I'm on the East Coast the US I play in the evenings I'm on the chaos server the world Phoenix. Good luck.

  • Thanks, I appreciate the wealth of details. Final Fantasy was my first love in gaming, all the way back to the original Nintendo version in grade school. I've been trying not to follow to closely as I don't have a system right now. But after Destiny drops. I will! Plan to check this game at some point. It pains me to see they went with the old subscription model... There are other MMOs that do just fine without it. This would be on the list if they new better! :-(

  •
you do realize these are all issues with the console right? I dont do pc, but i know that consoles dont have the cpu, gpu, RAM, processor, etc required for such features.
Ok well, I understand your initial reaction but that too doesn't make much sense because player counts have been bigger on previous halo games back in Xbox360, like I said regarding the crucibel, Halo even had 8v8 which is a 10 year old technology. I dont even want to mention other games that have 9v9 12v12 16v16 and even 32v32. That said, even if that was the case, that still wouldn't explain other places like Free roam EXPLORE where you can see other people in the game with you (up to 16) you just can't invite more than 5, so the fact that you see other people right there with you would make you think the technology is there to make it happen because it is "technically" making it happen already is just not in the same group. Same with the tower, its a social hub but I can only get social with 5 friends of mine and then 10 strangers. The limitation of the console would be "yes, we can only have 16 players at any given time" that I understand but when they make it so "you can have 16 players but you cant invite more than 6, you are forced to see other random people" that's where things get a little weird and we wonder why Bungie would ever chose to do so.

  • The issue with free roam would be all the constantly spawning Npc's as well as allowing random players to join. The game would have to much of a strain.

  • No, Bungie's open world is smaller then FF. In the beta anyway. The NPCs re spawn after a kill. Many more players to play with. That's why I was disappointed. I expected more. It's not the console. Wait and see what games come out for these consoles. I think it's the servers.
